Buy some new rings.
I imagine the 57.1 is on the ring, therefore with the ring removed you have a much larger hole. A larger hole that can be shrunk down to the correct bore by using spigot rings.
My wheels are from a Polo but just bought the correct spigot rings to fit the hole to bring it...
Fred, A mate of mine works with a 'Renault master tech' and he seems to think a non genuine shaft will do the job, but I have read on here that the non genuines can catch and cause issues.
He seems to think that Renault have in the past fitted non genuines if they didnt have any genuines in...
Well what a pain in the ass this has been!
It took ages of whacking with a huge hammer to get it out. And obviously the ends of the threads were shagged.
Tried to grind it down to good threads, but out of 10 hub nuts from various cars I tried only two would fit, and the threads in both were...
Right. I am changing my CV boot as I split it when I dropped my shock on it :o
I have removed the hub nut, and tried to knock the shaft through the hub but it is 'welded' on there. I haev wacked it with a mallet to protect the threads and the end, and then put the nut back on and whacked it...
Drive onto a thin block paving brick so I can get the scissor jack under the sill. Raise enough to get a low entry jack under to the chassis rail and jack on that.
Lowered FTL
Agreed. I got money knocked off when buying my car as it hadn't had the belts done and they were due. I drove home and straight to the garage where it was booked in to be done. I got it done for less than the money saved, but the seller agreed that it was harder to shift to entusiasts that are...
^ that clears it up.
I though the tool was needed for it either way. I'l get the Renault one and take everything apart. At least that way its done properly with a decent part.
I have just had a look on ebay at the 'stretch' boots.
If I got one of these, I would be able to do the outer boot with the shaft left in the gearbox?
If I buy a genuine renault boot, I won't need the tool will I? As I will be removing the CV joint from the shaft.
