Front left is practically bald so I have chucked the spare set on which are also nearly bald and put the others in the boot just in case. I don't need a tow eye do I?
That is the BIOS btw.
i expect you will be able to retrieve data from it, but it may be a bit flakey and randomly drop out. Best thing to do is get a connector to plug it into a laptop usb port and see what happens.
If spending that much money I would probably stump the extra £250 for the new one for the pure reasons of, How did the previous laptop owner treat it? Is it being sold due to a known issue? These are unknowns and could come back and sting you, plus you get no warranty or option for apple care.
If the hard drive is properly broken your data is lost, I had one last month that wouldn't boot but when I plugged it into my desktop it appeared and I grabbed the data, if your lucky its the same.
i would try pressing either f10 or f12 on startup, just hammer the key after turning it on, might...
When you turn it on you should see a message saying how to choose boot device, press the required button, choose the hard drive and it should start up, if not it suggests the hard drive may me knackered.

Re: Acessing home internet from any internet connection or setting up a home server ?
It wont work via RDC, you will have to VPN into your home network to make it work properly.
Re: Acessing home internet from any internet connection or setting up a home server ?
You will have to look dyndns up on google.
You could enable some sort of vpn to your home network which would work perfectly for what you want.
Re: Acessing home internet from any internet connection or setting up a home server ?
Just use windows remote desktop, use dyndns to track your home ip and just login, simple.
