Purchased off eBay. Need to find out if they will return it in the same state I sent it to them - I can live with it for a few more months til my upgrade.

The motherboard is apparently at fault, the s-off is apparently showing its been rooted and has illegal software thus rendering the warranty void.

So what does this mean? They're giving me bullsh!t?

Oh yes it does!! It might depend on what repair they carry out though, as mine went back a few times without a problem, but the latest time they've told me its been rooted and the warranty is void!

EDIT: Not that it matters now, Ive just found information that says it was unlocked at the time of purchase (despite it being delivered in a sealed box!) So looks like I owe them an apology.

How the heck would I or any other member of joe public be able to tell that it had been rooted? From what HTC tell me, its something that can only be accessed via the hard disk software on the phone.... Ive managed to get the picture that shows the security has been turned off... means nothing...
