Looking good! @KrisRS182 I'm glad you've finally got round to start a project thread, after much nagging by myself! She has come on along way since that evening we went to pick her up!
Hi Marc,
It's pretty straight forward if you have access to the tools. Fortunatley I work In a garage! You need to get some straight sections of pipe about a metre in length and some 3mm plate. Using some oxycetolene heat the ends of the pipe and crush them in a vice. Leaving enough gap to push...
The DIY rear strut brace is now painted and fitted! And whilst that was getting done, we gave the dash strips a coat of the same colour. So it all now ties in with the cage! Overall I'm really happy with the finished result.
Latest purchase is this OMP Targa wheel! I had one on my 172 and really missed it. IMO the standard wheel is just far too big! Excuse the poor quality of the photos and the random Tesco bag for life....
I'm going! 191 miles, after work on a Friday!
When will more information for camping on the Friday be available? I'm going to be copying @Cub. idea of morning track time and then much alcohol "glopping!"
Your right Dave, lol! Just need to get myself a helmet. I hope you'll be joining me on my first one of the year in a couple of months. Just need to get the cambelt etc replaced. How was the rolling road session? Looked like you had a good result?
Thanks mate,
I will get some more photos up for you later. Fitting isn't too bad, definitely a two man job lol! Take both the front seats out and go in through the drivers door with the front plates as far forward as possible. Then once in pull the whole cage backwards! We didn't use Alan's...
Thanks Jon,
Yeah its an eBay jobby, it's the same one that's currently on the group buy. But me and my mate bought ours before that had started. I can confirm they are really rather good for the money. Needed a little bit of cleaning up, and fitted them with 3mm spreader plates. Jobs a goodun!
Trophy Club Sport!
Rear bolt in cage painted and now fitted. Just need to carpet and soundproof the rear. I'm really happy how it looks and its great to get stuck back into the project.
Thanks for looking!
I think I'm going to go with anthracite to match the wheels. Not the standard black but not over the top either! I will put some photos up once she's fitted.
That's what I'm currently doing to mine Cub. You can have a cage without all the cold bare metal... Should hopefully have it in and fitted by end of next week. I'm undecided on cage colour though? I was thinking either gloss black, anthracite to match the 2118's or go for red to match the...
Andy what an epic thread! A real roller-coaster of emotions!
I've been reading this all day at work between actually working :tongueout: and for me, your car and your passion is a real eye opener! In terms of your engine that's exactly how I wan't mine. (Maybe not as much as an ordeal as yours!)...
Yeah we've decided for longer journey's that's what we shall do! I'm working on Suzi but she doesn't like "big cars" but I'm sure with time that will change. Especially once she's got used to it.
Thanks mate. I was thinking about it all day yesterday and decided I need to finish what I've...
