There was an issue on Watchdog a couple of years back about Clios being especially bad when it comes to paintwork being damaged by bird crap but Ive not had a problem with any of my 3.
I think this depends on the driver rather than just where someone happens to live... people that live in cities arent just people who stay in the city driving around at 10 mph and then get totally reckless when they get on a country road you know...
1) I occasionally drive it around the South which is much nicer than the North
4) Why the hell would anyone want to move up North?
cos the north has cold beer and isnt infested with southern puffs!!!!!!
Oh, last time I drove around the South I am sure I saw countryside ;) I am sure y0z will be able to report back on Monday to let you know about his trip down South...
1) Yes - and quite happy to stay there
2) Because I got tired of dumb ar$e men bullying and overtaking me in my 1.4 Si

I found two kids in my garden with their hands on my car which was parked in my drive - when I shouted out the window to get out of my garden, one shouted back why should I... Little brats... Its already got two very fine scratches on the front bumper...
£270 a month for 3 years on int free finance
£85 average per month on insurance, servicing and car tax. All covered for this year but save that per month so I have it ready for next year!

I got my insurance sorted out by quoting the chassis number which you can obviously obtain way before the reg number is issued at the dealer. Therefore the insurance is all sorted before the pick up date.
Privilege dont do cover notes either, it has to be a proper certificate in the post.
I only found a couple of big A roads! Trouble is the most spectacular roads are the worst ie narrow etc. Plus the B roads didnt seem much like the B roads I know... There are some amazing places to visit though if you want to do some sightseeing as well.
Are Wales and the Peak District as scenic as the Lake District? It was a spectacular place but the roads were usually single lane, narrow and lots of them had walls either side!
Hardknott & Wrynose Passes are worth it though for the spectacular views - the road surface itself wasnt too bad, just needed to avoid the potholes and boulders along the edge of it and best do it early in the day when there arent too many other cars around. Going round one corner the ABS...
Just got back from the Lake District :D
Woof - I did your suggested Kirkstone Pass which was quite enjoyable but then made the mad decision to do the Hardknott & Wrynose Passes - cant say I enjoyed it... Saw a guy who had completely shredded his tyre so I was as nervous as hell in a 182...
Jeez Im paying £700 with Privilege (CIS wanted £1200) and Im 34, clean licence, full ncb - so its either because Im female or that I live near London that Im being ripped off by insurance companies...
Privilege also had a problem with the Cup suspension pack and had to go to the underwriting...
Mine were stolen in broad daylight, middle of afternoon, parked right outside my house. I walked round the corner and the little brat was taking them off but he ran through a nearby alley before I could get him, which was probably lucky for him...
Most people here have been there, seen it and bought the t-shirt so to speak, they are worth listening to. If you re-read these comments in a years time, you will probably agree!
Personally I wouldnt go for a brand new car after just having passed a driving test, there is still a lot to learn on the road! No offence, but surely a 2.0l car for a new driver is a recipe for disaster?! Arent new drivers limited by engine size??? I would wait at least a year before going...
