197's/200's really that bad on fuel

It's the Mpg to performance ratio that hurts most... I owned a Megane 225 after the 197 and it was significantly better on fuel, and a fair bit faster.

    My Banzai MX-5 Project...

Yeah I do know someone so I might send them a message... I reckon I might re-wrap the roof as it's easier than removing the whole lot.

    My Banzai MX-5 Project...

Luckily it's all off bar the roof and the bonnet which are changeable if need be... I'm certainly thinking of getting the bonnet repainted or even buying another.

    My Banzai MX-5 Project...

I bought it relatively blind (it was at auction) so I'm pleased it's got some decent mods.

    My Banzai MX-5 Project...

Cheers for the suggestion. The worst part is that the carbon wrap won't peel, it just breaks up. It'll going to take weeks unless I can find a quicker way.

    My Banzai MX-5 Project...

As you may have seen my Mk1 up for sale on here I've been looking for something newer to replace it. The Mk1 has been faultless and loads of fun over the past 4.5 years, but I felt it was time for a change. Then last week I was offered Banzai Magazine's old Mk3 project car, so I've decided to...

    Twingo LOL.

    ...Also, where's the roll cage!?

    Twingo LOL.

Looks like a wheelie bin lid has been glued to the bonnet...

    Goodbye MX-5, hello V8.

Colour isn't to my taste, but it's a great car... I went to the 'Ring in one and have loved them ever since.

    Another Kangoo 182

I love weird, pointless and fun cars, so this gets a big thumbs up from me.

    Budget for a track car

I wouldn't worry too much. I'd base your purchase on condition over anything else.

    Budget for a track car

I disagree with the 'take your budget and double it' comments... I've been doing trackdays for years and years and I've spent next to nothing on my cars. Most of them got tracked in the same condition as I bought them.

    Budget for a track car

As said budget can be as low as you want... If you're not worried about looking cool or having the best spec car you can do it really cheap. I spent £1200 on a Suzuki Ignis and used it as both track car and daily, and I didn't buy anything for it other than replacing tyres when they got low...

Cars you sold that are now worth a fortune

I was just about to say 205 GTI too, only I sold a rally car for £600 ?.

    Cheap RS250 on Megane forum.

I'll never forget the moment I was putting in a decent lap at the 'Ring and one of those 250 Cup's passed me like I was standing still, chasing after a GT3.

    Awesome charity run car.

    Cookie's 2009 Honda Civic Type R GT

Yeah I've always liked the look. They've aged well, mostly because the styling was a bit ahead of its time.

    Cookie's 2009 Honda Civic Type R GT

Surely some progressive springs like Eibachs will help, providing they don't lower the car any?

    Cookie's 2009 Honda Civic Type R GT

Possibly my next purchase once the Fiesta dies.

Seeing 1990's cars on the roads nowadays....

    Everything seems big in a 1991 MX-5...

    Riggers' Primera P10 trackcar

That looks good fun, and doesn't look underpowered either. Really like the Primera GT, I nearly bought one a couple of years back with the same intentions of using it as a track toy.

Good to see the meets returning. I'm a maybe depending on plans.

    Going around in circles...

Haven't used to MX-5 much lately due to the appalling weather, but now it's back with new brakes and tyres thanks to @George@RTR_Parts and BRSCC MX-5 driver Martin Tolley. I gave it a clean today too...

    DB's MX5 NC

Tidy! Nearly bought a Mk3 several times in the past. I like the idea of a 'modern' MX-5 that's fine to use daily, but then I get back in my Mk1 and I'm reminded how much more fun they are. I'll still end up with a Mk3 one day... Love what you've done with yours by the way, it looks great.

    Neros any good on track?

You sound like me! Only problem I find with trackdays on road tyres is I round the shoulders of the tyres off way before they get low on tread.

    MX5 1.8 eunos supercharged?

I love my MX-5... It's officially the car I've owned the longest. They can push on quite well in the right hands but yes, you'd notice a significant lack of power coming from a Clio to a stock MX-5. I wouldn't let it put you off though, they're great fun.

    Megane R26/Trophy status?

I like how he can use words like "provenance" yet his description is full of grammatical errors.
