Yeah I've been both when it's quiet and when it's rammed on a bank holiday and definitely prefer it when it's busy (apart from queueing to get off the track!).
Pistenklaus imo is just one of those places you visit when you're there regardless... Like people taking photos of their car under the Nurburgring sign at the complex. I'd also recommend going to the castle, the views from the top are pretty cool.
As above, if things go wrong be prepared for large bills. Do all the preventative things you can and hope for the best. If you're not experienced on track try not to be a hero and don't worry about your lap times. Just enjoy yourself and keep a careful eye on your mirrors as some folk will catch...
People claim the 90's BTCC used to be better too but it wasn't really. The racing wasn't as close, the cars weren't as reliable and the coverage was poor. The 80's BTCC was even worse!
Nice to see you building a proper track car and using it as it's intended. As already mentioned, Oulton, Donington and Cadwell are far more fun than Silverstone and Bedford... I hope you have a good 'Ring trip!
Yeah I think I was doing 1:28/1:29's from what I remember, but maybe the exhaust and Ohlins made the difference as I was on s**t tyres.
I'm considering another for sprinting this year, along with 7168 other cars.
Be interesting to see how you get on... Mine felt reasonably quick, by my standards at least. There wasn't much catching me and I was having a good battle with a Mini Challenge race car. Hopefully yours impresses you.
My reasons, other than the fact I don't own a Clio...
- We can't organise sprited country drives any more for fear of getting done by a speed camera van.
- Going out is becoming increasingly expensive, as is the cost of motoring... Especially for youngsters.
- Forums just aren't that...
I understand what you're saying, and to a certain extent I also like some of the stance cars. What I was getting at is that scene isn't very well respected but the mature enthusiast and considered by many as 'chavvy' ...Which was no different back in the 90's with Max Power style cars.
Yes, Facom bought Britool around 2000 and manufacturing ceased at the headquarters in Cannock. They also bought Sykes-Pickavant. The Cannock site became a distribution and service centre for all products under Facom ownership, but then Stanley Tools came along and closed everything which was...
Britool and Norbar used to be the same brand too, but that was years ago when I worked for them. I'd strongly advise against buying anything Britool now as it's a Chinese brand that bought the rights to the name after Stanley Tools shut the Britool factory down.
I don't think tastes change as I'd say they more 'evolve' ...Most people, myself included thought that Max Power cars looked awful even back then. That generation has been replaced with the 'slow & low/stance' scene, which of course isn't really considered by the majority to be a true petrolhead...
I'm in a dilemma as to whether I should buy an Oppressor in the sales. I don't buy Shark Cards so it's taken me ages to save the money I have, especially as I don't 'grind' either.
Problem is, I only have enough for the Oppressor Mk2 and not the Terrorbyte or Nightclub so I'll have to wait ages...
I didn't keep mine long although I might regret selling it. Despite what the MX-5 community say I think it was a much better car than the Mk1, although I do agree that it lacks the charm of the old one. They go well on track in the right hands, but I decided mine wasn't a keeper. Worst thing for...
Oppressors are meant to be the deadliest vehicles in the game but I deal with them easily enough... I let them chase me to a multi storey carpark and I hide (out the car so they can't lock onto me) and when they hover nearby I shoot them with the Combat MG.
