I actually downgraded from a DSLR and bought a good bridge camera, and I've never looked back.
Don't get me wrong there are loads of limitations with a bridge camera, but unless you're proper serious about photography they're actually pretty awesome.
I'm sure you've already answered this question before, but how do you rate the Mk3 against the Mk1 in terms of performance and driving experience? I've been toying with the idea of selling mine in the spring and replacing it with a 2.0 Mk3 Sport. Am I mad??
