As a biker I would say read the road better & don't put yourself in that situation. No one ever likes hearing that though but it's the truth even if it's hard to do.

Yes gash tyres make a pretty noticable difference.
I've got sport contact 5's, pretty happy with them.
Rowans didn't get re tubbed. If they re tub them they have to be re registered from what I understand. Mclaren I've heard aren't massively 'pro' doing this.
If the damage to the monocoque is repairable it'll be fine. They are worth so much these days you'd have to go some to write one off...
