In these wintery and cold months im finding i need the fogs more and more often in the early morning commute, only problem is i've only owned the car since August and i was yet to find out the front fogs dont work...
Now im not exactly shy to working on car electrics and can usually identify...
I'm a firm believer of not disturbing something that's not broken but I know my luck it'll leak a month down the line. To just make it easier I may leave it then.
Doing a clutch on the 172 soon, whilst it's out I was going to change the rear crank seal seeing as I was there, but it's not the cheapest seal and I've never seen/heard of a Clio leaking from there so I may not bother if I can get away with it.
Anyone recommend I change it or just leave it...
The 'Restaurant' moved the date and messed us about, turns out Christmas is a busy time of the year for them lol...
This probably won't be taking place due to the massive drop out, we involved 197.net to bring the numbers back up but then they all dropped out too.
Vickys now looking at doing a...
Wow and that's a cheap V6? I haven't reviewed V6 prices of late but thought mid mileage ph1s went for the 6k mark!...
Have they started increasing in value already?
IMO unless you have a tool like Danny showed this isn't possible with a 3/8 ratchet or small extension! The spring is just too close to the insert. Oh and its very weak and the spring is stupidly heavy!
Air con delete ftw ;)
Lmao this is a good solution I may try it. First I'm going to remove the washer pipe as I never use it, before getting the power tools out!
My rant is at the CS mass convincing me its a 5 min job ( ignoring my previous experience haha ).
Now i've fitted a cup spoiler to a ph2 non sport before and it was a piece of piss, 6 bolts out and swap over.
Tried the same job on the ph1 172 today. Plugs were the same which is a bonus over my last time and the washer pipe was even long enough. However, im not sure if the ph1 bootlid is...
Sounds like a poor connection to me, typical of stuff coming on and off over bumps. Usually if the motors seize up even a little the fuse will be the first thing to blow.
Bonnet up
Remove O/S scuttle panel ( black trim directl below w.screen ) small trim clip on the left
Remove water collector...
Seeing as his timing belt was done not long ago I wouldn't gamble on the lower cam pulley being seized in place lol...
I bought a sealey timing kit for this job, not the best quality/looking tools but cheap and did the job perfect. Think I paid around £60 on eBay for the set.
I took out a loan for my ITB kit ( came in at £5400 total ) and to pay it off I rarely go out on the piss or have fancy holidays. IMO still worth it because I get so much enjoyment out of driving it.
Sometimes I wonder if it'd just been easier to buy a fast car in the first place....
If you have the timing tools its a relatively easy procedure, be sure to buy a new bolt from renault too. They stretch and sometimes cannot be reused, safest bet is to just buy a new one for £8
Only one small update today, things have been going smooth. Used everyday for commuting and is yet to miss a beat :)
Got some new door badges off eBay to replace the yellow painted ones, this is the beginning of operation de-yellow! ( after much debate amongst friends i've decided im not a fan...
I've got abs and service light on so I know there's a fault just always suspected the different rings were to fault.
I read about a chap who had a converted non sport ( as mine ) and removed and pump and used a KA bias valve to reduce rear power. I may just ph1 the master cylinder and see how...
Amazingly just as quick as it began whining it's stopped! Not a dicky bird even at below freezing weather. Haven't touched it or changes fluid etc lol. Been quiet for over a week of daily driving...
Still need to change clutch though as the thrust bearing has a small noise to it, probably save...
It's never that easy ay, perhaps it may be easier to just get the abs working and simply remove the fuse for track. You don't need a speedo on track.
If I have a 1.4 non abs control unit but with 182 rings front and rear ( same number of teeth ) it should still work right?
So on the 182 we haven't had any abs for years, front excitor rings were different to rears when the engine was converted so got used to no abs feel of brakes, actually prefere it on track. Anyway put all original rings on and it still doesn't work, no problem though.
Thing is everytime I...
