Your true with the orange bit but I think the covers come with some sticky bits of metal to cover them up. They are fiddly tho, especially with a fat fingered git like me lol

As long as you keep it as cool as possible it shouldnt be a problem (e.g heatshield of some kind) engine keeps quite warm. I done it to mine to keep the filter as cool as possible as the standard box at he back does the joc well enough
