Chip it was more a point aimed at people saying MKI/MKII Golfs are classics and not for this kind of use. Indeed he even mentioned are there any other cars, well yes there are. There are plenty of Fast MKI and MKII golf track cars and drag cars that are FWD and put the power down very well. I'm...
2.0ABF Turbo = 650+bhp stick it in a MKI Golf and eat every car on the road. 2.15 is probably the best part when the bike and Supra go at it and the MKI drives round them both.

Blimey Dave, I lived in Sherwood for two years whilst at Uni and loved Nottingham (we are going back a few years) sounds like its changed alot over there. I never thought I'd be glad to live in Coventry
I'd go with this plan, you could rebuild the head to find out that it isn't the only issue, least witha running engine you won't have an ongoing list of problems.
Spent all yesterday reading that, very nice work. Apart from your seemingly bottomless budget the spacers, brakes and arb are what I'm looking to do to mine currently. Not quite as fanatical about cleaning it as you are but having had a MKII Golf I showed for a few years the cleaning bit I am...
Dan speaking as someone who works in the motor trade walk away. If I sell a car it will not be driven even if I get a £50 deposit. The car is sold unless it fails finance and cash is not an option or the customer tells me otherwise. Your insurance can be cancelled within 14 days and as others...
Driven a 197 a fair few times and I still prefer the ph1 172's or a 182. The 197 is a heavier car so power to weight they would have a similar performance but you have to ring the neck on a 197 to make it feel fast.
I watched the highlights of this years race on eurosport, sad they only really give an hours coverage. The race was stopped for about 5 hours IIRC in the night due to fog and the smoke from the fires making it too dangerous. Also a huge smash coming down the hill under the bridge, the car...
Thanks for the response, I think I'll get the rear lower arb, maybe front and rear upper (not sure the difference they will make) and sort the brakes and then worry about the suspension later.
Hi Guys,
Will these fit my PH1?

Thanks
Not according to a friend of mine who is an RTE. But I guess if your only working on 36k intervals, based on servicing at 12k intervals I'd still say its 3 years. Anyway I changed mine and its up to the individual I guess if they choose to change it at 3 or 5 years based on the information given.
I'd argue it with the insurance company that you want a second opinion from a second bodyshop. Take it to somewhere else and get them to value it. Also find out how they are getting to that estimate. Do you have an agreed valuation on your insurance as that can also help.
I'd only do the above...
Re: 182 master cylinder size and is it a likely cause? A nice story for you to all re
My brakes fell off very quickly on my PH1 at Donnington last Sunday. I'm not sure if the PH1 has the same issues as the 182's but I have already ordered a new set of front and rear discs and padas and I'm...
