Standard Clutch In Low Boost Turbo?

ED fitted a Helix Organic Clutch to my car due to It being road use only. The biting point is very much on and off as you describe. Anyone that hops in for a drive stalls it pretty much straight away, but you do get used to it! My car is only 230bhp/lb-ft for reference, and my stock clutch went...

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Another video up on YouTube, but not Cup related. This time it's @hsustyle's Megane R26 Cup update video coming soon :)

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Hi all, anyone able to help. Going to have to order some new lines for the sections marked in red. Does anyone know the size of the fittings on both ends and the type of fitting? I’ll be using BRTMotorsports custom line builder. Cheers, Chris

Thanks mate. Really appreciate it. Had just got my camera the first time around, so i've had a fair bit of time to practice!

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

After taking off the rear beam I am presented with quite a bit of corrosion. Something I was expecting, but perhaps not to this level. My plan is to wire wheel off as much as possible, before treating with Bilt Hamber Deox and then finally using Electrox as a primer. What are the options for...

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

As promised, here's my YouTube for anyone bored enough to take a look: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsKEDJYNOoNkzwDucs_7LiQ/ Criticism is welcome. Still trying to find my feet with this, but I'm really enjoying editing videos at the moment that are not work-related.

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Wednesday evening well spent with a lot of cool cars. Pic dump incoming! I also now have a yearning to own a DC5 Integra. Absolutely incredible car.

KTEC often have them on their website, but they are often in and out of stock. Might be worth emailing them or keep an eye out for a second hand one! When you put it like that... agreed.

    Brembo caliper colour - BG

Silver gets my vote too! Not too over the top, but enough for them to still show :)

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Fitted a new splitter yesterday. It’s a KTEC carbon fibre splitter but exactly the same shape as the genuine one that Renault want extortionate amounts for. Not a fan of the carbon fibre as doesn’t really go with the OEM look I want. So sprayed it Matt black. Hopefully this one holds up on the...

1 owner clio cup 172 -21k miles - whats it worth

I know the guy who purchased the recent 172 Cup for £8,500. I’m going to take a look at it tomorrow. He paid less than what he was willing to pay too. Take from that what you will, but I’m willing to bet OP’s car should be £10k minimum and that someone will pay it too.

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Some more progress on the rear beam refurb. This will actually be the easiest part. The real pain will be getting the current one off and the underside cleaned and rust treated before this one goes back on. Primed and sprayed black with a can, so I’m really happy with the results. Took hours of...

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Plenty of time being spent on the Cup at the moment without much to do at the weekends. Finally getting round to things I've wanted to do for a long time. Picked up a rear beam to start rebuilding and refurbing. Removed the whiteline rear arb for refurbishment. Got to wonder if this car was...

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Yes that’s pretty much it, as far as I’m aware the rest of the system is identical except for the tip is slightly shorter and bends 90 degrees to point towards the floor. Based on that, that's a pretty good idea @Dr Jekyll

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

It’s been a few months. Not a lot to report on, but some plans moving forward. I’m considering getting a stealth exhaust as I’ve got a spare OEM cup bumper. Does anyone know if this will restrict flow and impact performance? Also, what are people’s thoughts on the original badges? Not really...

    172 Cup Turbo Conversion

I’ve had my Cup low boosted with the ED kit for what seems like years. Maybe 4/5 now. The AEM piggy back ECU developed a fault at some point, so needed replacing although ED were helpful. It also needed an uprated clutch after 10k as the standard one which had covered 100k+ had given up at that...

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

The car is back from the paint shop, and I have sills again! exciting times. It's also just passed it's MOT with no advisories so super happy with that. Spent today giving it a clean after taking it out properly yesterday for the first time since August. Drives brilliantly with the fresh...

    Exclusive 172 - 172 Cup, Future Classic?

Clean, OEM, low mileage 1*2’s of any variant will fetch good money in ‘the future’, but the amount you’ll spend just to keep it working, serviced, looked after etc... it’s just not worth worrying about IMO.

    £10k 172

Cup tax is a real thing. It will sell eventually, and when it does CS will move on to the next “overly priced” car, completely forgetting this one of course. Rinse and repeat.

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Thanks Graham, just confirming what I thought. It matches the wings more closely than the doors which is odd. They are going to do the doors too, and what I’ll be left with (hopefully) is immaculate paint on pretty much 80% of the car.

    Failed Brembo brackets

If you do, will you be doing 280mm adapters? From what I’ve read here, not many do them, but I’m running 280mm setup currently.

    Failed Brembo brackets

Totally agree. Not happy with them. Car won’t be moving much between now and next summer so plenty of time to fix. Will follow this thread

    Failed Brembo brackets

Only just discovered this thread. Mine was just surface corrosion. I have caked them in copper grease to try and remedy the issue but will have to keep an eye on them for sure. Must be from the same supplier as OP’s?

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Pictures of the progress so far. Bit of a weird one, but anyone had issues with the doors and rear quarter not matching well after spraying? Rather than being an issue with the colour, is this just 16 year old never been machine polished paint vs brand new paint? Overall really happy with the...
