Far simpler way to achieve the same result buddy...
Undo the bolt on top of the shifter, make a thin spacer (3-4mm) out of any kind of stout rubber hosing, put int he top of the gearknob for extra preload on the spring. Add a lttle moly/copper grease to the spring. Reassemble. No bungee cords...
Any 2k Laquer should be fine. May react with regaular spraycans so try to get it all from the same place.
I get my best spraycan results with a light coat followed 3-5 mins later by a dust coat (hold the can far away from the job) followed by a full heavy coat 10-15 mins later.

Didn't spot the post until now, glad we managed to fit you guys on the table.
Was good to see a few new faces tonight, hope to see you all again next month!

Lots on the specials board, nearly always including silly burgers.
First Monthly SWN meet, last Friday of every month, 7:30 for 8.
Cars and 16oz burgers (other, less ridiculous food is available).
Hide your kids, hide your wives.
Right, venue scouted.
Good car park, Great food, didn't mind a table of blokes talking about cars and bantering in the bar.
Monthly Venue will be the Castle of Comfort

What day is best for everyone for a monthly meet?
Wrong thread Daz, there is one where I was trying to set up a monthly meet in East Harptree or Weston but no-one was willing to travel to either and in the meantime I've had a car accident which means I can't do much driving so the meets just haven't got off the ground.
