Just remember that the 200 and 197 are different beasts so you need to arrange drives in both if you are looking at both. And avoid the usual 1*2 owner generalisation of "it doesnt feel fast" because it actually is, you just dont notice it as much due to having a decent quality cabin.

Yeah the gearing really isnt suited for motorway/dual carriageway use. 3,500rpm sat at around 75mph is a ballache. The 250 cup by comparison will happily do that sat at 2500rpm :(

Well for starters you havent done yourself any favours by taking your car into a main Renault dealer. Did you honestly think they would offer you an affordable/cheap solution? Get a trailer, collect your car and take it to a specialist to see what they recommend. If you cant afford to fix it...
