Yeah Sir_Dave had his H&R'S set at near on standard ride height and I personally think they work better like that! The Bilsteins on my cup currently are as I got the car, and too low. Handles okay on the road but I don't really push the car hard. Could do with being set higher so they are more...
Lol. Tbh, when I drove your Trophy at Bedford, what suspension did it have? Sachs or H&R'S (Bilsteins pretty much)? As even with quite a bit of roll and R888's that was actually more fun to drive on track than my old disciplined stiff FK Konigsport setup on my Cup.
Plus I was still running...
Can imagine with stickier tyres you'll get a bit more roll with the sheer extra grip. But tbf, I think that amount of roll's alright, given that the suspension is so versatile for both having fun on track and most of all... Road.
Want stiffer suspension, then sacrifice road comfort, if not...
Looks pretty good to me also. Though with everything if the drivers ham fisted then it'll make the suspension look 's**t'. When really, if you drive smoother and adapt your driving style to the spec of the car, then driving is so much easier/enjoyable.
Indeed.
All the time in not racing, ill be at the race meets helping out in one way or another. Always happy to help any of the Clio teams out with bits off my car, Quaife, AST 2's, engine, wheels, GRP panels. You name it and my car will have it. ;)
Just as long as I get my parts back or get...
Lol.
I could rent mine if his breaks. Though he would have to drive smoother with some mechanic sympathy, and no rallycross sectors like last season! ;)
If I was in your shoes, I'd be putting 25mm spacers on the front with 2-3 degrees of camber. Raising the ride height at the front if its that's low will also help, being 'slammed' doesn't mean it'll handle well.
A cage will stiffen the car big time, having got a 6 point cage in mine it...
Rear ARB will make a noticeable difference but won't stop the front from 'leaning' when cornering. People need to remember that roll isn't a bad thing. I highly doubt that it'll be rolling as much as the standard setup. They are also a road/track coilover, not a race coilover that will corner...
Too soft? When I had mine they weren't even near fully stiff and they cornered pretty well/flat. How old are they? Could do with a rebuild?
On the spring front if your going to do it, speak to Faulkner springs. They do custom springs for various applications.
I'd personally leave the standard cams myself, apart from the C&B's that James from JMS had I've not seen cams make a good amount of difference for the price.
What power has it made now its been mapped mate?
Yeah the FK's are 172/182 non cup packed fitment only.
Though I am surprised at people knocking the FK Konigsports, they are a fantastically priced coilover unit that perform well above the more expensive 'track day' coilovers on the market. Yeah they have problems with corroding which can be...
Just run it until it breaks. I sold a fully serviced engine for £350, after the service cost £600 odd quid.
Guess it depends on how good your engine is. My Cup engines strong so want to look after it, if its average or a lemon. Run it until death.
The only spare box currently sitting in the shed is my Quaife guys, and that's not for sale. ;)
As per pm though David, my 172 Cup box will be for sale soon as ill be fitting the Quaife.
Nick
Not brand new Chris but definitely the new design. Rhys on here had them for a little while, used them on 2 trackdays and had the fronts refurbished as the seals started leaking but hasn't used them since.
Spring rates are... Fronts - AST 180-100-61 / Rear - Eibach 13/99 0500.200.0500. James...
So having secured these...
All I need now is a couple of different sets of rear camber shims and the stripdown of the clio can commence! Need to book the car in with the 'mad scientist' (Mike aka budgie) to fit all the parts and once all the bits are done I can actually start using the car...
It may be a while Lawrence though!
No worries James, just one of those things with an expensive old car I guess. I had to have one to get it out of my system, after this one i'll be sticking to reliable cheap cars! And indeed dont go mad on the A3!
Fingers crossed i'll get the same, would be...
The pure Motorsport ones actually attach to the topmounts and shock absorbers, so they do have a purpose unlike every other strut brace available on the MK2 Clio market.
Tim - Lol I knew what you meant mate. The lady said it was a speed van on the other side of the road apparently. I asked for proof, but to get proof you have to plead not guilty which if I am guilty then the punishment will be more severe. So just easier to plead guilty as I know I was driving...
Get some better pictures up ffs. If you present it better then people will be more inclined to take interest. Pictures of the cage, seats, wheels etc, from your pictures it just looks like a dirty molested standard looking clio.
Cheers Oli, it's definitely a strange one with this car! Any other car and i'd of just punted it on/broken it for spares (even at a loss) but through everything I still cant bring myself to get rid!
Cheers mate, will look into that! Incredibly cheap that!
