True it won't lose litres from there. But if its still leaking after replacing the seal its not been done right(which is hard to get wrong lol) or the seal is incorrect.
Out of the few i have changed none of them still leaked afterwards.
172 looks exactly the same as the 182 . Only difference is the 172 does not have twin exhaust.
Thats just a chaved up 1.4 are the modifications declared? £400 insurance on a modded 1.4 seems a bit low.

Tbh i wouldn't bother with a short shifter as it will break your box. I would go for a stiff shift kit with brass bushes from yanoo.
