Normally insurers write it off if the estimates 50/60 % value of the car, legally they have to indemnify you. Bottom line is if its cheaper and viable for them to fix it they will, thats what your contract will say as well.

yep its true. We just opened a garage and if a biker brings his bike to us and we ose OE parts then he keeps the warranty, same on cars i would have thought.

bad. bad luck mate. Get on autotrader and have a scan at what tyhe going rate is, this is partly what your insurer will do anyway. ANy good ads you see be sure to save them for evidence in case u need to proove it.
