There are varying levels of wiring preparation in the mk2. Some have the engine loom but not dash, thee other way round is common and no cruise wiringat all is normal as well.

Pedal switches should no different. different squib. dont know if the mk3 is prewired for cruise or not. Get the wiring diagrams on eBay and have a look. All will be revealed then.
