Clio will be off the road for a few weeks. :(

The most important thing out of this, as has been said already, is that you accept your mistakes and learn from them. This post says to me that you haven't really done that. You need to accept that your 'accident' was completely avoidable. The car did not suddenly appear on the bend, it was...

    My New Toy...

Nice LOL Same basic engine as the Ignis?

Cup Spoiler Folks with a Fabia Splitter

Granted it would be worth it if people that haven't drilled pilot holes had experienced cracking. I didn't have a problem with cracking, and as far as I'm aware, no one else has. At all. So it is a complete waste of time and effort!

Cup Spoiler Folks with a Fabia Splitter

They're called self-tappers for a reason. Pilot holes are not needed, they're a complete waste of your time and effort. As above, just screw through the splitter and bumper in one.

    Silky Ignis Sport

They're fine for overtaking, 0-60 in 8 and a bit, almost 120bhp/ton. I was able to get past cars in my Ignis on my commute in the exact same places I can in my 200 now, no more, no less.

    Silky Ignis Sport

That's missing the point! The joy of these is that they have just enough power to make progress, but little enough so you can drive it absolutely flat out, everywhere.

    Clio 200 MPG

Mine must be a freak then judging by the above. Currently 175 miles into a full tank. Trip computer says 38.4 mpg (which I know will be over 40 mpg as the trip is very pessimistic). When trying hard the lowest I see is 29 mpg. The joy of a country road commute with no lights and no...

The 197.. How does it compare?

I've come to the conclusion that anyone who says a 197/200 is not as much fun to drive as a 172/182 simply hasn't had enough seat time to truly discover their 197/200. I bought my 200 expecting that as a driver's car it would be a poor relation to my 172 Cup, the reality is the complete reverse.

    Silky Ignis Sport

Nice. Loved every single one of the 24k miles I put on mine, fantastic cars.

    Stripped Clio weight

Mine is stripped to the bare metal inside, has standard passenger seat, lightweight bucket seat for driver, removed power steering, carbon canister, foglights, airbags, bonnet/undertray sound-deadening. I weighed everything that came out, and everything that went back in, and saved 117 kgs. So...

    Trackday changes....

This is true of just about any circuit...drive it like you're going for the lap record and almost any brakes will reach a limit. For a first trackday though...driving like that should be the last thing on the mind of a noob driver. Even if you are chasing lap times, there's relatively little...

Found the RR graph but is it right?

What's wrong with that? That's a pretty good figure at the wheels.

Whoa! I thought I had a picturesque commute through the rolling Southdowns, but that is something else!

Chris Harris on Cars - Toyota GT-86

I'll have one of them in the future without a doubt. Hopefully after the 200 expires. Ticks every single box for me.

Brands Hatch Trackday - Trying to keep up with an E92 M3!

The 'traditional' line would be to take the geometric apex i.e. the absolute middle of the inner kerb in a constant radius corner, this gives the widest and smoothest turn. This isn't always the fastest though, as by going deeper into the turn and taking a much later apex, although you're...

    172 or 172 cup?

1,110 kgs standard, Cup weighed in at 1,021 kgs. I took another 117 out (and ruined it LOL). It's the later 'Cups' that haven't lost much weight compared to the executive limo versions.

    Track Car - MOT

So airbag removal being an instant failure (as I understand the new regulations mean) is left to the testers discretion?

    Track Car - MOT

Sounds to me like your car would have passed 'either' test if there is such a distinction. Does yours have fixed buckets and a replacement wheel/no driver's airbag?
  19. Tighten My Nuts

    172 or 172 cup?

That's be a valid point if it weren't 89 kilos lighter, lacking ABS, and with a far more focussed suspension setup...all IMO. I absolutely had the choice to go for a normal 172 when I bought my Cup, but I didn't, because of all of the above. Since then the Cup ethos has become massively...

Brands Hatch Trackday - Trying to keep up with an E92 M3!

Nice, I love Brands...but being used to Goodwood I find Brands far too congested. As Jay says, fewer gearchanges would help with the smoothness in and out, and as with everything you do on track, the less you do, the less chance you have of making a mistake.

    172 or 172 cup?

LOL at different seat covers making the exact same chair more comfortable. It comes down really, to aircon. If you want it/must absolutely OMG I love it have it, buy a 172, or a Cup with added climate. If you can live without it (I did, 4 years of commuting 24k miles per annum, missed it...

    172 Cup - boot floor?

Yup, bendy and useless. Chuck it out, gain wheel-well storage, improve bhp/ton.

Any one want to freeze their a**e off watching some rally cars at Goodwood ?

Re: Any one want to freeze there a**e off watching some rally cars at Goodwood ? I'll probably stop by this at some point. What time will they be running until?

    woohoo finally upgraded

Listen to this! I regret almost everything I've done to my 172 Cup. Leave it standard and it'll reward you longtime. Fcuk with it, and you'll ruin it.

    11 Car Drag Race...

Ooft, bet the front ends of cars 2-11 didn't like that! GT3 RS for me out of that lot every time.

Breaking my 172 Cup. Should I?

A moment of stupidity several years ago. Has got few laughs from the Goodwood clientele over the years though.
  27. Tighten My Nuts

Breaking my 172 Cup. Should I?

Well, i've only done the one day in the 200 so far and given the choice I have, i'd take it over the Cup every time. As said above, I might take the Cup out one more time...but it'll be purely for sentimental reasons.

I miss those PF97s, they were epic brakes, you even managed to capture the wheat field remnants following my 'off' LOL. Great pictures, great days. Sigh.
