If the breather pipe is going to the atmosphere then you will smell it, the only way to stop it is plumbing it back into the intake.

No, second hand they tend to get snapped up quite quick, £30-£70 a set depending on condition or you can get a new set on ebay for about £120 ish. Keep an eye on your local breakers for a bargain set.

182 should be a collar iirc.

The reversing clunk you mention is just the pads sticking to the disc due to surface rust, don't worry about that:)
