That's the essence of these games - but I do think they have lost their way. We are still burdened with the cosmetic crap that makes no odds to the game whatsoever. Do I give a toss that some sniper bloke has head-shotted me from 200m, but had the ultra rare giraffe-combo jungle skin on his...
Had my first online experience of BFV last night.
Joined that squad-option where it appears to be four-a-side. New map, unknown kit - just jumped onto a squad-mate with a passing Sherman tank (obviously a sitting duck in the turret on top). Drove around a bit, made a couple of the other side...
I wouldn't take it to heart - it's a long-running comment that we have on here that crops up every now and then.
Just like anthracite being referred to as amphacite.
I'd also question the necessity of games that are single player only (or predominately) to be totally reliant on streaming? On the rare occasion that the internet connection has gone down - you've at least got something else to have a dabble with in the meantime. And if I actually think about it...
Yeah - the free offer has expired now, though the core game is still around £3+, the Master Collection is £6.71.
If you're enjoying it now, I'd strongly recommend getting the MC version. It's no longer on cdkeys and Humble Bundle want over £25 for it. Usually the core game is £14.99 on Steam...
@Jonnio - have you had any weird input issues on the PC version during war stories? Finished the British one at the start and began the Norwegian one. That played fine for about 15 minutes itself and then just randomly, I couldn't scroll through the weapons with the mouse. I couldn't fire...
I check every now and then for the wireless devices that have connected to the router. With no default expiration set, it's easy to have devices (phones, tablets, laptops etc) that have a existing connection to your router that can be many months old.
How many people actually check what they...
Took a punt on this as it was around £17 on cdkeys for the PC, at the weekend. Haven't gone onto the cannon fodder of online yet - but tried the war stories single player stuff.
Looks good, sounds even better. Let down by some really weird game mechanics. Emptying an MG42 into a truck that's...
Me too. I signed up for that cheap Xbox pass and have actually downloaded Outer Worlds - but have yet to try it. I'm kind of hoping for a Mass Effect/Fallout hybrid of some sort.
Either this player is the 'roided in front of the screen - pixel-perfect in the vertical plane (is auto-aim even still available these days?) - or he's a T-1000.
To even line up perfectly in such a minuscule time is impressive - let alone to see the enemy in the first place. Pretty sure that...
I think what that clip shows is the virtual lack of any target leading. Literally put the target in the crosshair and fire - 99% of the time it will hit.
That sniper shot at around 6.30 in - lol wut? The occasional tracer coming your way, barely aim and bang - the enemy's dead?
Wake Island is legendary in BF games!
Actually quite accurate in terms of the overall layout and appearance of the island itself. The book about the Battle of Wake Island is a good one if you get the chance to nab it...
The Pacific theatre is probably the setting that would get me back into BF.
Really wish on a different tact, they had done a Company of Heroes 3 with this background setting.
I made the mistake taking my 182 back to the local dealership when the alternator failed on mine.
Took them three attempts to get it right and then had the cheek to say that they had 'lost money' when I queried the ridiculously high labour charge.
I would rather engulf my car in flame than...
@David Stuart - such a thread of extremes - glad you came out unscathed, other than the impact on your wallet!
I'm hoping that in-car footage exaggerates how close you are to the barriers on the hill climb? Constantly looks very narrow indeed.
iCue can be a massive memory hog.
I've checked it a few times and touch wood - mine's been ok. I've seen some online instances were it's been using over 800MB memory - lol.
I have a real chip on my shoulder with semi-realistic games offering items like this - lol.
Like games where you can carry a pistol, sniper rifle, rocket launcher, flamethrower, minigun and 2,000 rounds for each. It's just stupid. I get 'it' on chaotic games like Doom and Serious Sam (which is...
There's something quirky with the Fallout series. Played 3 to death - even if the one-man-army inventory and skill sets grated on me for their stupidity. Bought New Vegas and simply didn't get into that at all.
Bought the complete version of Fallout 4 from cdkeys for a couple of quid and...
The only issue I have with Rockstar is the virtually non-existent after-release updates/downloads/DLCs for the single player side of their games. Yet the incessant crap that gets turned out for the multiplayer stuff.
I'd rather contemplate the EA/Ubisoft model of additions - than plug away with...
Another free alternative is XnView. Used it for years - in particular the batch convert option which allows masses of images to be converted to another format.
