    Porsche 987 Boxster S

Must be an aftermarket decent looking option? Short FTW:

    Porsche 987 Boxster S

Do they do a shorter gear knob? It's a very similar centre console to the z4, and fitting a weighted short //M gear knob made a huge improvement to how it felt to drive. No dyson? Lazy b*****d.

New mats will make the inside look 100x better but jesus that looks good. Just so simple and clean. Love it.

Say it out loud, it's my adopted term for c**t when I can't get away with such foul-mouthery.

SSD over a normal HD in a MBP. Can someone explain why they are better?

There's been hundreds if not thousands of reports of lots of SSD's just stopping working. HDD's do fail yes, but from what I've heard the risk is higher with SSD's but as Tom says it may be older ones? Seb, time machine is just the apple backup, but it's awesome. Plug in an empty HDD...

    E85 3.0 Z4 Roadster Project

The diff is, well, that's if it is what it is. TBH I got the diff for bottom dollar and it's only done 47k. I've got a rotation squeak/vibration coming from the passenger rear wheel. Proper weird noise. Oh and the handbrake has broken somewhere along the way, which is a QUENT on the z4...

    E85 3.0 Z4 Roadster Project

Nope, BMW standard differential. *sigh* Not 100% sure it's the problem yet, but it was the only correct one for sale ANYWHERE (all diff's are different ratio's), so I bought it before someone else did. Well that's always good to hear (Re: the bumper). I'm sure we can sort something out...

SSD over a normal HD in a MBP. Can someone explain why they are better?

That's an awesome difference, are you not worried about the SSD failures people have been having? Lots of reports about. I'd be running time machine weekly just in case, which is what I might do. Time machine + SSD

    E85 3.0 Z4 Roadster Project

OK, so the car's broken at the moment, but parts I bought for it before it decided to be a tosser are arriving, wonderful. Brembo's have just arrived, they are HUGE. Like monumentally huge, they'll look amazing under the 18's. I'll get a picture in a bit. New front bumper is sitting at...

    Quick question

I ran them on a ph1 non sport for about a year with no issues, and it was awesome fun. Maybe the sport offerings are worse.

    Quick question

Ride quality is a little crash, sure, but the handling is actually alright. Doing 90 around a bumpy corner might be a bit hairy, but other than that they're a decent solution to getting a car low on springs.

Ph1 - Low Mileage - Is it known?

I'd pay 2k for that, no more though. 2.5 is big money for a ph1 now, it doesn't matter TOO much about mileage, but it looks really tidy too. Lovely iceberg right there for someone and I'd 100% buy it if I was in the market, even if it needed belts doing I probably would, as long as the...

What case are you getting for your iPhone 5?

I'm buying an incipo feather after seeing Ron's. Lovely.

My Clio 172 PH1 Daily Progress Thread

I'm not sure how I've missed this up until now, but very nice job. You don't half throw a lot of money at cars though, some commitment! (Especially given you have other people fit things!) Love the side skirt stickers, really old CS feel to those and you got a decent fitting front bumper...

    High RPM Whine from engine?

It's it's squeaking whilst ticking over, then going when you depress the clutch though? Twas only a suggestion. Mine made some funny noises on the ph1 before it gave up is all.

    Dented roof! :(

How deep are they? Will they polish out? There's plenty of dent guys been recommended on here mate.

    A general insurance query...

Yeah exactly, it's a weird one which is why I was curious, and I just fancied a decent debate/Q&A. Also, I could do 2k miles on a track per year, for which I'm not insured anyway, it's hardly fair I couldn't use a limited mileage policy because I choose to drive my car on a private track.
  24. Rob

    A general insurance query...

Exactly Chip, I'm not talking about him having a separate policy on my car, which is illegal, but to have third party cover on his own insurance, (lets just say for instance it doesn't say "for use in emergencies" in the policy. Gandalf may have done 4k miles in my car, but the car has been...

    High RPM Whine from engine?

If you let off and swerve from side to side does the noise change??
  26. Rob

    A general insurance query...

I hope we do all realise this is genuinely theoretical. The reason I was wondering is because from an insurance perspective, (if you were my insurer) "Gandalf" isn't your problem. He's his own insurers, so why does it matter how many miles he does in my car to YOU? Surely my insurance policy...

    A general insurance query...

Mileage always made a difference for me, the difference between 12k and 18k was quite large on my 172 iirc. Didn't check the zed as I don't drive so far now. I know drive/road/garage often don't really feature though.
  28. Rob

    A general insurance query...

OK then Joe, just to be pedantic (this is entirely theoretical), if Gandalf covered 4000 miles, almost doubling my yearly mileage allowance.
