RIGHT! Back again and with a slightly larger update this time. The day started with the tailgate spoiler, stage 1 was to try the brackets on that i made at work in my lunch breaks and adjusting them where neccissary.
Then once we were completely happy with them we drilled the tailgate...
Right!! I've been basically messing about in my lunch breaks and i'm pretty happy with what i've achieved. Basically I started with a set of standard 1.2 door badges.
Then i filed, sanded and ground the centre sections out.
Next I cut a small peice of carbon fibre from some spare i...
Progress from this weekend is small to say the least owing to a friends wedding and the aftermarth meaning neither of us were in any way fit to work on the car.
But we did manage to get down the garage and get something done, we managed to fit the repeaters.
Before
After
LOL, Sorry...
Damn, nearly 2 pages without any pictures I was trying not to let that happen!
WOW our little thread's gone mad with support, cheers everyone really appreciate it! Can't wait to get the car weighed and see what it finally comes in at. I'd really like to be bellow 800kg which i think would be...
Cheers fella's for all the nice comments. We know about the ride height but we're still a little undecided about what to do about it, the car was lowered by 50mm when we bought it (many moons ago) but we could only find 35mm springs at the time. I'm tempted to sell those and drop the front more...
Well we've been down the garage again and made a very small step forward.
First thing we did was finished fitting the air filter, still needs properly restraining, but now the idle air control is now piped up
Next we got the bonnet down the garage which was quite difficult since the...
Hi there everyone we're back again, sorry if we've not answered any questions at the mo but it's been a mad old week. This weekend we started off with the door glasses, sounds simple enough but i found ways to over complicate the whole affair. First off I had to cut down the standard plastic...
Well we're back but unfortunately without a vast amount of progress to report, mainly due to hangovers. We started off driving down to mum and dads and braving the spiders in the shed to retreive the door and quarter cards only to dicover the door ones were no where near big enough for the fibre...
Right, due to public outcry we got our asses in gear and got down the garage. LOL
First thing we did was after getting the wrong steering wheel boss from a dude off eBay, we managed to get another and get the wheel on.
Rather impressed!!
We've also managed to locate some wiper blades...
Sorr about the delay fella's things went a bit arai but we'll be back on track very soon.
Northy the hub nuts were only on there so we didn't loose them, theyre now tight as we had only just fitted the brakes at that point and couldn't keep the car still while torquing them up.
James fella...
Re: My mk1 track car blog
Go on my son, nice work!!!! Really impressed you've got the better of the wiring now all thats left to do is learn to drive the old loom tape. Quickshift looks nice and sounds like a breeze to fit ;) LOL
Cheers for all the help fella's I really want to get to the bottom of all this so i can get back to the shiny exciting bits of the project and stuff worth posting on the thread. Noone seems to think it's down to the timing and as it's so clinical and temperature related i think the first port of...
That crossed my mind tonight so i'm gonna check it over tomorrow evening. Thing is it's so clinical you can pretty much tell exactly when it's gonna do it on the temp guage.
Coolant temp sensor is a new one annoyingly and the fella who popped over today also had a decoded ecu so we fitted that and it made no difference at all this is why i'm at my wits end i'm pretty much all out of ideas.
The car is trying to put me in early grave!!!!! Basically When you start the car it runs pretty much lovely if a bit fast and but pretty much the moment the car reaches running temparature it cuts out dead. It then really struggles to restart "popping and bacfireing" and once running ticks over...
Annoyingly the postman didn't come through for us to the extent we needed, but he did deliver our brake pressure bleeder which ment some work could get done today.
We managed to bleed the brake with relative ease which was nice, which ment we could then adjust the park brake and then fit the...
Hi there fella, looks like this is gonna quite an impressive project! I owe you a couple of answers i forgot don't i lol. The roof was made for me at streamline carbon fibre but it was far from cheap and I made the dash myself.
LOL, it wasn't the brake question that was a nightmare. It was the whole mum thing!!
Anyways... Only a very small update again today. We've managed to order more parts so either tomorrow or wednesday we should get some more major work done but we still got a couple of things done today.
The...
Lol, you lot are a nightmare!!!
Point8 the brakes are standard size and they are indeed dynalites too. They were bought off someone who bought them with all the brackets in a group buy. There's another one of the same setup being put together as we speak over on williams clio the fella called...
only a small update today, had issues bleeding the brakes as expected, so a pressure bleeder is now on order.
Inspite of this we still got a couple of things done.
We made to battery cables to route front to back for the battery relocation, we still need a couple of connectors to complete it...
Back again although feeling a bit battered and bruised as today proved to be a bit of a battle to be honest. It started off pretty well really as we spotted a ph3 in a breakers yard when traveling back from Moo's flat that had the window rubber we needed in it. so a fiver got us that and brought...
Thats a really spot on looking valver that one!!! Was chatting with a fella the other day who did a 20v turbo conversion on a mk1 and it sounds like an interseting conversion to say the least. Keep us informed about how it goes!
Us again!!! :D
Well today's post is officially named as 'pretty day' and I think as you read the post it'll become clear why. Today started off back at ma and pa's picking up the second of the shortened dashes and changing everything over from the first one i did including the looms fuse box...
