Hi there all, cheers for the great comments and i'm loving the colour gusses
Well just thought that as things are chugging along i'd post up a few work in progress pics. They're not our usual step by step pics but i'm sure you'll fill in any gaps lol.
First job was to trim and tidy...
Well this isn't the most exciting of posts but I thought you'd all prefer to be kept in the loop. First of all we've ordered a pile of bits from Citroen but nothing amazing just little bits and bob that the 11years of abuse interspursed with neglect have left broken or missing
Next, Pete the...
Hi all we're back again and I have to admit this is a MASSIVE post so if your living in medieval times and still using 56k this will definately be a pain in the ass so sorry.. First of all the badge has returned from chroming and it's one of those little things that just looks so good it spurs...
Hi, had a call from a mate of mine this morning who's rebuilding a phase 1 172 engine. He decided to get a second hand bottom end instaed as the damage was pretty bad however the only one available was from a phase 2. He's reusing the head etc off the phase 1 but just rang to say he's got a...
Of course there is sir, you know us can't make a slice of toast without putting up a thread about it lol

Hay there, just thought I'd post to remind you that we are still here, but unfortunatly even with me sniffing out every bargin I can, Moo and I planning to do most the labouring and me working every hour god sends, there is still a vast amount of money required, so saving is the name of the game...
Big makeover was planned for the start of next month but moneys looking tighter than expected now so it might need to wait another month. Hope not though!!!
Hello all!
Big day today! We had a delivery in the week, after a lot of ringing and hunting round we finally managed to locate a set of these!
So we set about this weekend to get the ride height correct!
We decided to tackle the rear first, measuring and re measuring with different...
Back again and not a vast amount to report but we are currently on the build up to a big attack on the car to turn it into something a bit special and very eye catching. First of all the car is now clean but lets be honest we've all seen a scruffy but clean silver Mk1 saxo so i'm not fussed...
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
Not read everyones posts so this might've been covered already but when we tried bleeding up the brakes on our valver it'd gone completely bone dry and it just wasn't getting through by pumping the pedal in the end we went down halfords and got a gunson easy bleed and...
Re: My mk1 track car blog
Wooo!! Glad to hear your getting on with it all again and i'm betting this new sexy shell has resparked your enthusiasm for the project again.
KUTGW
Woooo! I'm back again and although i'm fairly sure your all bored of pictures of these wheels i'm not bored of posting them yet so look away now because this is a picture whoring post lol. In the week the parents rang to say that they'd missed a delivery for me and there was only one thing it...
I've only got 1 set of BBS's just adjusting the width to suit They all came with 1" rims which were going to stay for the front.
Put a 2" rim on 2 wheels, they were going to be on the back but decided to put them on the front as they fitted better.
Now have 3" rims on order to fit to the wheels...
Well we might have been a bit quiet on this one recently but it doesn't mean we haven't been busy. First thing we realised was we had enough parts to assemble the rear wheels so we headed to the garage and soon realised that polishing 120 rim bolts is truely a boring pain in the arse!! But it...
Right we've been quiet of late owing to Moo's phone breaking meaning we didn't have a camera.
We've been doing a bit of buying shiney things to keep us motivated and they arrived Friday!
Looking at them, they are THE RIGHT WHEELS for the Clio and we're sure that this time the car will be what it...
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
In case you missed this idea as this thread is moving fast:o
You could also pull the pistons up and down by the rods by hand to check that aswell. And you could maybe do it in situe?
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
Sump off, take the con rods off the crank and turn the crank by itself? Just make sure you mark which journal fits which cylinder if it had to go back together again
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
I'd be very careful here, there is NO woodruff key, so you may well have lost cam timing now, as the pulley and thusly the belt is purely taper fit on the crank!!
Silly question, did you try turning it over with the V-belt off? I've known a seized alternator to stop an...
Not a massive update again but page 3 of the project section was looming so I thought I'd keep you lot posted.
Once again we've been on a bit of a sell up and the car is looking more sorry for itself now, but oddly the pictures of the engine bay are also a sign of things to come:D...
Right, satge 2 (or whatever it is now) begins. Undoing or redoing work begins to just completely FINISH the car and make it the fire breathing animal it deserves.
We've begun to strip it, its currently got no air filter (sorry Moo), inlet manifold and engine cover.
We've also removed the wheels...
The Valver is my brother Beanie's car (one log in, I'm Moo)
Project thread for it here

Thanks for everyones comments
Well chaps, when we thought the Clio Valver project was coming to an end we decided to start another project out of Moo's newly aquired Citroen Saxo, I know it's not a Clio I know but i'm sure you'll let it slide as many of you know Moo and will agree he's a pretty decent chap and knows what...
This is all we're giving up for now!

Now going to stop spamming my own thread, and start saving my pennies:quiet:
Well my fevered mind has been spinning away at an alarming rate since the motor let go and i'm definately seeing this as an oppotunity now. So give me a couple of months to get my pennies together and i think this thread will continue to make interesting reading. :)
