I'd do away with it personally. I had a bmc cda that i bought cheap off my mate. I put it on and the car sounded a beast, but there was too much of a performance drop to warrant having it on, so i sold it.
Tbh mine drinks oil, gotta go and buy another 5 litres tomorrow as Im having to constantly top it up. My previous engine was the same, except I didn't cater for its needs and it broke.
When I changed mine, the only difference I noticed really was the noise and the throttle response was better. Thats a full system including decat.
To get the most out of it, its probably best to have the car remapped after, something which I have yet to do.
Mike bham, I work with the guy who had the black 182, that 200sx of his is a beast tbh lol.
Surprised nobody has spotted me on here. Im over in rubery / longbridge / northfield all the damn time atm.
I think flamers just don't stand out unless they are clean lol.
Bought mine Jan 2008 with 44k on the clock. Done 23k since then and had heaps of stuff replaced lol.
Exhaust broke.
Washer jets failed.
Rear shocks leaking.
Engine ran out of oil, new engine fitted.
On top of that had all the usual wear and tear items. Brake pads, tires, belts, clutch...
Yeah my bmc also does the same. I took it off however because I lost throttle response and the car was running to damn rich after I'd fitted it. Distinct smell of petrol coming out the back.
I've been looking at similar cars recently.
Yesterday I had a test drive of a corsa vxr. Very disappointed to say the least. Felt no where near as fast as my clio and was far to refined for my liking.
Being a 172 owner and a biker as well I can understand where your coming from.
What I tend to find is that I'm a lot more serious about things on the bike though, because at the end of the day one c**k up could cost your life.
Whereas in the clio you can drive it like you've stole it...
My mate just rang me to tell me his mk2 clio's head gasket is on the way out, the garage want £900 to repair it however.
This sounds a bit over priced, however having not had anything like this go before on any of my cars, I'm unsure as to what he should be paying.
Can anyone give me a...
Mine got to 64k with very little wrong, just new engine mounts, tires, pads etc.
Just make sure you keep the engine oil topped up, as I let mine reach pretty much zero and wrecked the bottom end.
Just paid something like £2300 to get it back on the road lol.
Cheers people, gonna ring round a few places now and see what sort of prices they will do them for.
I need one pretty much straight away icarus - end of the day my car is in bits in tcr's garage and its taking up their work space so I don't want to take the piss really.
Ok basically I put a topic in the fault thread as my engine was making some horrendous noises.
Turns out my cranks gone and one of conrods as well :dapprove:, which is obviously very bad and now I'm left with little option but to try and source a new engine for my car, as tcr are saying that to...
Nah its defo a bottom end problem. It was the result of low oil, which was odd because it was ok a couple of weeks ago, but no lights lit up on the dash which is really irritating.
Unfortunetely there is no way I could have a bash myself as I haven't the work space or the time to do it really...
Ok took the car to tcr. Initial verdict is not good at all.
First thing the guy said was - "thats the bottom end". So basically the bottom end is wrecked and the top isn't getting any oil because there is no oil pressure.
Not really sure what to do now, do i get the engine rebuilt, or do i...
Ok, dropped my mate off tonight and was heading home. Was accelerating hard in second and as I approached 5000 rpm the engine felt like it was holding back. I back off and put it into a higher gear, then I noticed a constant knocking noise from the engine. Its very noticeable on part throttle...
Since putting a bmc on my clio it seems to have lost the responsiveness i had previously, although that might be to do with my lack of cold air feeds. Wicked noise though.
Does having a caf straight into the filter make a difference?
lol well the windows looked pretty steamed up and the carpark was empty
so im assuming thats what was going on.
anyone off here? if so i apologise for putting my full beam xenons on the side of your car lol.
