I hear good stuff about about Royal but I used @snappy for mine and I couldn't be happier with the results.
I have alcantara on mine but it's far from my daily so I can help you with the wear issue.
Not planning on selling it just yet, I have a spare v6/172 bonnet here in Canada.
I haven't decided if i'm going to keep it on the car or not yet. I'll keep you in mind if i decide to off-load it.
If access is easy then removing the pump should be straight forward (the sender housing and tank level float comes out in one piece), did my 172 pump last month with no drama.
Thanks, I noticed in the workshop manual it stated about the 80 l/h Bitron unit. The in-tank system looks very very similar the that in a 172/182 so i'm sure a Walbro 255 will work just fine. As long as the sender and filter sit at the bottom of the housing and the pump diameters are close then...
I was thinking the same, i'm going to remove the pump and have a look.

This kit comes with the corrugated line replacement so this will be the likely candidate.
Thanks
Finally got my hands on the car, drove it 1000km in two days from the port in Vancouver over the mountains to Calgary.
Some service items are on the hit list before it gets plated up and unleashed on the streets here.
Any one know what aftermarket fuel pumps fit a ph1 v6? @bloke @cat171...
