Re: E36 v2 Two possible ways of doing it, just get an M20 (E30) starter which bolts right up, £20-30 on eBay, or get a broken M20 one and swap the cog onto the E36 starter. Both options work :)

Re: E36 v2 E21 323i is the correct one. Its 30mm in length. Its a rip off from BMW.. But I've found a supplier for them cheaper, decent brand FEBI. Waiting back from them so I'll let you know if you want.

Re: E36 v2 I cut it open again today, it was a bit too 'raw' on WOT. I've added some wadding and closed it back up, much better now. Swapped the tips over from the other exhaust too. Will get a couple of clips over the next few days!

My OBC shows 27-29mpg. When I work it out of actual miles to litres its 30mpg. Technology back then was sh*t lol.

I wouldn't worry, I just replied to his other thread with the same :clown: Usually work from full until the light comes on, so 52L. Does me for about 300-320mi, on a 200k engine. Works out approx 30mpg. I'm on the 3.15 diff though, so RPMs are higher.

I have some Z3 plates on mine and they still aren't really sufficient for heavy track day use IMO. Without them the top mount area would be knackered by now mind! Going to come up with something to weld in to place with more surface area this year.

Re: E36 v2 Bottom end stripped to a bare casing - block is actually lighter than the head, can pick it up with one hand :clown: Dropped off the head and block at the machine shop for refacing and honing, probably have them back next week. Now to collect the rest of the bits.

Re: E36 v2 Yeah, I've just always had to work with what was available at the time. I did the E30 in a unit but it was hassle having to drive there just to work on it, then you'd end up forgetting something, etc. My parents were against the idea at first (2008!) and needless to say soon came...

Re: E36 v2 Its pretty easy to remove, timing tools required though. I sold my F4R timing tools a while back and bought some BMW ones instead which have been used quite a bit. Rocker cover off, lock timing, undo the Vanos unit and use the tool to remove it from the head. Quite a few other bits...

Re: E36 v2 I've had a look and it seems you need the part of the loom along with the stalk and cruise 'ECU' from behind the glovebox. All no problem... plus the bits from the engine bay. Although fitting it to another car seems to be a bit more complicated, involving swapping all sorts of pins...
