I decided I wasn't man enough to lose the headlining.... It's still my daily so I wanted to avoid the condensation issues.
Payday Thursday so a bimarco will be ordered :)
Small update, I got bored today and tore all of it's insides out :)
Quite impressed with how much difference it's made, and really hasn't affected the noise that much either! Pleased!
You can't just guess and plug stuff in wherever.
You don't want the x-over on HPF for a start.
The gain is not 'volume', you don't just put it on full, set it to about a 1/3 to 1/2 as I'm guessing you dont have a volt meter?
You also don't want your low pass filter set to the highest setting.
Fair point mate, I'm not suggesting that the physics is the be all and end all of car/driver performance.... but it is the easiest way to get people that don't really understand what they're talking about to see your point / understand the idea.
Obviously you do know what you're talking about...
No I'm not. I'm talking about a Clio. The car in the thread is a Clio, was I wrong to assume that this was the car that we are talking about?
I'm not suggesting that every car should run 15'' wheels, I thought that was obvious?
Sweet Jesus. Who wrote that reply?
''AFAIK'', it would appear that you don't 'know' very far.
How would the driver possibly give accurate feedback to the engineers if he doesn't understand the physics?
Well that answers that question then.... fitting and wiring and very different things.
I'm guessing you mean a power cap? If so, then no. complete waste of time. It's soooo unlikely that your sub is ever going to play enough sustained bass to require it. It's just one of those things that...
What is your budget if you can't stretch to £450?
IMO, you want to buy the lightest wheels that you can afford. It's worth saving a little bit more for the right set.
I think you misunderstood what I was saying mate, I didn't mean that old people have no driving talent, I'm sure Sir Jackie Stewart and Stirling Moss would still drive me under the table, I just meant that being old and having 'experience' doesn't necessarily mean that you're a better driver.
A...
Supercharger is the way forward in life :)
Massive power available but very progressive. If you want more than about 250hp, you have to get forged internals..... getting power out of a clio is a proper money pit.
I saw a couple driving a couple driving a ph1 last week in Brighton.... They were both staring at my cup though, so it's possible that were Renaultsport fans!
I wish that was the case mate!
The only way to get serious gains out of these is turbo / supercharger / throttle bodies / JMS inlet.
The basic mods package is exhaust, matched inlets, Clio V6 airbox, remap. IMO, they're the only 'engine' related things that are worth doing unless you're willing...
It's all about components. Co-axials are fine for a bit of rear fill, but poor for the front.
The positioning of tweeters is important because high frequency sound is very 'directional', doesn't fill the space like low frequency (bass) does.
Running components without the tweeters really isn't...
15hp. Lol. Behave.
Tell him you want a before and after dyno test and you won't be paying him if it's not 15hp.
You'll get 2-3hp but as said, more power low down. It's pointless unless you have other mods really.
Edit: Are you saying that 15hp is too small an increase for £290?
FLI are shite, but the alpines should be much better than you're standards. Have you fitted them right?
Plus, for that budget, what do you want?! People don't sell stuff that's top quality for bottom end money. Be realistic.
I'd bet it was your fitting that's the problem.
Oh yes. I forgot about that.
Pro race's are lovely wheels, but not sure they'd be great on a mk3? Find a few that you like and ask someone nicely to photoshop for you.
As others said, if you have an interest in buying coilovers, definitely buy a non cup packed 182. The options for cup spacing coilovers are very very limited.
