I understand the principle of purging is to get rid of gaseous N2O in the feed line, but I thought point of using microbore nylon pipe was that this wasnt an issue, plus puging is very wasteful of N2O.
The injectors the Wizards of NOS sell now are supposed to be the best you can get, they spray the feul out of one hole in line with the airflow, the N2O is then sprayed in crossed jets so that it cross the fuel jet, so giving a very good mix and good atoisation and distribution. Also you should...
Were not ripping it to bits, but there are some bits that are just plain wrong, like the part about the extra air/feul needing a bigger spark to light it. It is good to write tuning guides that dont go into too much detail, but you gotta get the basics right.
Capt.
Is there a fixed industrial standard minimum lift that cam makers have to use for the duration. I mean the duration tells you how long the valve is open in degrees of crankshaft revolutions, but if one manufactor counts 1.25mm as open and another uses 1.5mm then they could be the same...
Nick, are you using a X-fire injector? If not you should be, they give almost perfect fuel/N2O mix and atomisation.
IIRC Trev. (The WIzard of NOS) says the further down the inlet runners the better as it gives it more chances to mix with the air. The NOS Nozzle system looks good, but would...
CCC rocks!!! Will have a look at the other two, cheers.
BUTRE I realise its only a brief guide, but even brief guides should at least be correct, like Ben says the key to more power is more air. A really REALLY good sight to read is http://www.pumaracing.comwww.pumaracing.com
Dont mean to be rude to who wrote this, but:-
27% transmission loss, thats highly questionable. Does this guy read CCC? if not maybe he should, also he might enjoy the Bosch Automotive Handbook and Dave Walkers Haynes manual on EMSs.
Surely pressing the accelerator makes no difference as the ECU is using the the cranking ignition setting and the injector map has the same value at every load site for idle, sorry to be piccy, im bored ;)
I seem to remember Nick Reads got a catalouge (spelling?) from somewhere with loads of uprated bits for Clios in, including uprated mounts I think.
IIRC it was not in english though.
Yes the extract is from an article on Puma Racings website. The two examples he gives seem to work well and the argument over the transmission soaking up 36+kW cant be ignored.
Does anyone have the figures for the 172, then at least yo could see if his formula (with its questionable...

What is it with putting big engines in Novas? Theyre sheds!!1 Surely theres other cars out there better suited to it, well like youve already put a GTT engine in a Clio how about doing some toher non vauxhal conversions, dont you think the Nova thing has been done to death???? Plus just look at...

What do you mean it doesnt take account of actual transmission/drive loss? Good point about taking top speed from speedo though :)
Another point I was thinking about, if transmission loss really is as high as 28% than with a 172 producing approx. 130kW, that would mean the transmission is...
Found this article about how to calulate transmission loss on any car, seems to work pretty well too.
The 1.8 Vauxhall Astra GTE (new shape from 1985 on) has a frontal area of 20.5 sq feet and a Cd of 0.31. With two people and some test equipment on board (which is how most reputable...

Mmmmm, most boy racers (not saying your one) have NO idea about engine modifications, parts from zorst, air filter, etc. Most seem to think you can just bolt on a turbocharger and go.
Modded Corsa....WHY???????
Cheers, Simon
HI,
I use fully synthetic Mobil 1 15/50 Motorsport stuff, its the dogs IMHO. Will always sound tappy when it cold and before the pressure reaches the tappets, should quieten down after a few secs then get quieter still when shes warmed up.
Phase 2 light clusters will fit, but as you have...
The F7P has 30mm inlets, the F7R 32mm and the F4R 35mm if Im not mistaken. I know its possible to put 32mm valves into the F7P head as its the same head the F7R uses. BUT would it be possible to fit F4R inlet valves into the F7P/R head??? BenR, Slarty?
Cheers, Simon
