I use a Manfrotto Tripod, quite steep at £150ish with a decent head but can't rate it enough. Very sturdy indeed!
One thing you might want to consider is the maximum extension of the tripod so you can work at a height that will be comfortable for you.

faster continuous shooting
and some extra buttons and settings.
Maybe some extra stuff that I have missed out but I don't think there is a massive difference overall.
the 18-55mm kit lens requires a 52mm. To double check, look on the back of the lens cap...it should tell you there. I use that hoya one that someone posted, can't complain at all!
I agree wit Tav, my old C2 felt like it had amazing brakes because the initial bite was very strong. The brembos on the 197 are on a different level, I think you need to find some time to test them properly :)
