I didn't really think meets were still a thing tbh... I haven't been to one in years. I still go to Motorsport events and do trackdays but despite this my passion for cars is actually pretty low. I'm longer interested in modifying or talking about cars... I just drive them lol.

We tend to go for a week including the bank holiday weekend, so you get plenty of time to get laps in either side of the weekend.

Yeah I've been both when it's quiet and when it's rammed on a bank holiday and definitely prefer it when it's busy (apart from queueing to get off the track!).

Pistenklaus imo is just one of those places you visit when you're there regardless... Like people taking photos of their car under the Nurburgring sign at the complex. I'd also recommend going to the castle, the views from the top are pretty cool.

I've actually been in them all bar an FD2. EK9 was the one that I enjoyed most.

Yep, most insurers exclude the Nurburgring anyway. Just drive with air of caution and remind yourself you're a long way from home if you screw up!

As above, if things go wrong be prepared for large bills. Do all the preventative things you can and hope for the best. If you're not experienced on track try not to be a hero and don't worry about your lap times. Just enjoy yourself and keep a careful eye on your mirrors as some folk will catch...

That wasn't every race though. These days the grid is even closer, and qualifying for example... The whole grid are separated by just over a second.

People claim the 90's BTCC used to be better too but it wasn't really. The racing wasn't as close, the cars weren't as reliable and the coverage was poor. The 80's BTCC was even worse!

Even if it is a 172 it's not the end of the world. They're almost identical cars anyway.

Nice to see you building a proper track car and using it as it's intended. As already mentioned, Oulton, Donington and Cadwell are far more fun than Silverstone and Bedford... I hope you have a good 'Ring trip!

Sounds about right. I needed better tyres and brakes to go any faster.

Yeah I think I was doing 1:28/1:29's from what I remember, but maybe the exhaust and Ohlins made the difference as I was on s**t tyres. I'm considering another for sprinting this year, along with 7168 other cars.

Be interesting to see how you get on... Mine felt reasonably quick, by my standards at least. There wasn't much catching me and I was having a good battle with a Mini Challenge race car. Hopefully yours impresses you.

I've just got my National B license so I can compete at Curborough. As much as I hate to admit it, a Clio is probably my best bet.

Love AG Clio's, especially that one! I'm considering another for sprinting but the gearboxes concern me...

I understand what you're saying, and to a certain extent I also like some of the stance cars. What I was getting at is that scene isn't very well respected but the mature enthusiast and considered by many as 'chavvy' ...Which was no different back in the 90's with Max Power style cars.

Britool and Norbar used to be the same brand too, but that was years ago when I worked for them. I'd strongly advise against buying anything Britool now as it's a Chinese brand that bought the rights to the name after Stanley Tools shut the Britool factory down.
