Yeah its a fair bit tighter on a 2.0 though, the first time I took a gearbox out the top of a 172 was purely to piss someone else off who said it can't be done. Drop the subframe? Pah!
Mine was the same mate, was a push to hit 100 in 4th without a panel filter, got there mucheasier and probably went a little over it - on the clock that is.
This was all before the remap and it was BlackKro who suggested it to me aswell.
Yeah it does, hence the hefty book time nearly 7 hours. You ask below why does it take 7 hours, because the rocker/cam cover holds the cams in. Like you say, nothing todo with the inlet manifold, you can just unbolt that.
You got robbed mate, only need to replace the manifold if they break the EGR valve in half and can't get it out!! I'd put money on them breaking it in half trying to get it out.
Good theory, it just doesn't happen - 80% of the time, the valve/housing is that badly clogged up it just can't...
Sarah check your rear shocks and rear springs, both common failures on Clios if the springs just broken at the top garages could miss it etc on on MOT.
Okay just to clarify Billy Boy. Say you unlock the car, get in without putting the key in, and go off/side/off/side it won't work. However, say you've just finished your journey, stop, take the key out, it will work. Until you open the doors.
To turn the auto lights on/off, with the ignition on but the car not running, turn the light stalk from off to the side lights position and back twice and you'll hear a beep. One beep means off, two beeps mean on or vice versa.
For the auto wipers either leave the stalk fully up for off, or...
You can't use leads and a standard laptop on its own just to use the actual Renault CLIP, you need a few extra bits which are serious cash unless you run a garage etc
Just get one of the £25 diagnostic tools off eBay (good value) or if you have an actual laptop, this sort of thing is a few...
If you don't bed in new/pads and discs properly the first time they get hot you can warp the discs... Doesn't usually happen but it can.
Did you clean all the corrosion/rust off the mating face on the hub where the disc sits onto, needs to be as clean as you can get it really.
Matt why not go down to Yozzasport for 10 minutes, they'd probably be more than happy to have a quick look for you, could probably tell you what it is after a quick road test aswell, just an idea.
Get a bigger bar on it or get someone stronger. If your working on axle stands, you want to be stood to the side, and pulling up to undo rather than pushing down as you'll have more power when pulling upwards on the bar.
Aren't there loads of people in Warrington on here, someone could give...
I'd say expect to pay about half an hours labour at a local garage - easy job any garage could do it.
The grease won't damage the alloy its only lube, take the wheel off and jet was the arch and the alloy if you feel the need.
