for light practice use....... if you realy like taking photos as i do maybe spent the extra £100 and get the 60 iv had a camera or one sort or another since the age of 12 no have a ok dslr and a good compact First dslr i got was the d60 and is an amazing camera for £300 D40 is very close...

no diff with the pixels unless your gonna crop lots... d60 is newer and maybe better nicer lens just over the non vr get the d40 if your not gonna use it a lot
