    Wireless/bluetooth speaker for ipad/iphone.

You buy a bridge and that plugs into your router and then your speaker connects wirelessly to it, only 1 "thing" in a sonos system needs an Ethernet connection, from then on they form their own wireless network. However, they are realising an update (I think the current beta supports it) that...

    Wireless/bluetooth speaker for ipad/iphone.

Sonos? I cant say I've listened to radio on it, but I believe that the BBC radio stations are available on it. I can't check as we're in a cottage and won't be home until the end of the week. The play 1 is an awesome bit of kit for the price, can be used as an alarm as well. Can't be used as a...

    WWDC 2014

Have a flick through the gallery, you can see various widgets in action including the eBay one. http://www.theverge.com/2014/6/2/5772602/apple-will-bring-3rd-party-widgets-to-ios-8

    WWDC 2014

I'm with Tom. (Not literally), this is huge although I can see why some of you think it's meh. I've been quite vocal about how poor I felt certain parts of iOS were compared to Android, bits which should be in it were conspicuously missing. They've had widgets for a couple of releases, but...

    WWDC 2014

Double Edit: Seems that giffgaff does indeed now have a carrier file.....that really is about the last hurdle. I still think the below is valid, although it would seemingly not affect me now. They do, via Apple, but the carriers should be policing it themselves on their own network. You...

    WWDC 2014

Now they just need to grow some balls and enable tethering full stop, regardless of whether carriers allow it. It's up to the carriers to police it, not apple. This is a solid update, I still think (barring the screen size) the 5S is the best hardware hands down....and that's nearly a year...

    Bose or Sonos

Totally agree, love ours. The android beta of the new software is great too.

Shhh...wash your mouth out! All Bose is crap don't ya know, audiophiles say so.

    Bose or Sonos

Digging this up.... I still maintain that the Bose soundlink mini is brilliant for a small speaker. However, the wife has managed to "put ours somewhere safe" and I'll be damned if I can find the bloody thing, so I decided to see what sonos was all about. Have to say I'm impressed, I've been...

    The new iPhone..?

Really? Their ability to keep anything secret has completely disappeared though, prior to and including the first iPhone most things were purely speculation, now apple can't even do a product launch without somebody else having shown it off (often in full) all over the internet...

    Unity Game Engine

I did stuff like that on the PC as well. (Showing my age here!) I remember showing friends smooth scrolling in text modes and making a lens in text mode as well! Its almost worth seeing if any old PC drives power up! Wasn't the first future crew demo in text mode? I mean it looked like a...

    Unity Game Engine

Its a monochrome display though....although I was able to get 4 shades of grey out of it by running at 4 times the refresh and modulating the pixels. I did that just to see if it would work! Good old shade bobs . I've probably got some code kicking around somewhere that did those as well...

    Unity Game Engine

Ha..speaking of demo effects, I remembered about this that I did a few years back.... DK6ezHNWtVM Its more impressive than in looks, that LCD has no controller (therefore no video ram), so I'm literally handling the scan refresh on the fly, clocking out every pixel of every frame fast enough...

    Unity Game Engine

I love sharkys updates, awesome stuff. My brain is now mush, prototype system has gone out the door. Firmware can be updated via memory stick and the worrying settings for code protection worked...but more importantly I was able to wipe the processor afterwards....this is necessary if any...

    Unity Game Engine

I'll swap your boring meeting for my day! Rushing to get prototype hardware out the door today to a customer. Just tried updating the firmware via memory stick only to find that the software wouldn't boot, eventually traced the fault down to my pc utility which generates the encrypted and...

    Unity Game Engine

It was all about the assembler in those days, I don't think I wrote a single game in 'C'. Although saying that, while everybody else at college was struggling to write a simple "database" program in pascal (single line read then move to the next field), mine featured a full graphical GUI with...

    Unity Game Engine

These kids these days don't realise how easy it all is nowadays! ;) Mode X was where it was in the DOS days..its interesting having to draw a frame every 4th pixel at a time...otherwise big speed penalty. My Michael abrash book still sits on the bookshelf!

    Compiling C Help

Not entirely sure why you'd want it as a 64 bit binary.....but......add -arch x84_64 to the CFLAGS in the makefile. You obviously didn't have the right path added to the Makefile for the include search folder if "#include <mysql.h>" didn't work.

    Compiling C Help

Requires a bit of tinkering under OS X. I can get it to compile after modifying the makefile to point to the correct include and lib folders and source files to remove the mysql prefix from the mysql includes, but OS X is missing libcrypt so it won't link and I can't be arsed to find a working...

Poor. Didn't bother reading after the opening words included "audio enthusiasts"- a select group of people who could be outwitted by dappy. Btw, the Soundlink mini is awesome.

    Google Nexus 5

Still on the N4, the N5 didn't really bring anything to the table for me from the N4 so I didn't see the point in changing...if I'd been on something else it'd have been a different story. The wife was still on her iPhone 4, I tried convincing her to get an N5 but she just said "Your phone is...

iPad Issue - Poor customer service

Here's news for you. Apple don't care about you, while you may think that spending 2k over a year with them shows (or deserves) some sort of loyalty, the harsh fact is that it's nothing and that for every pound you don't spend with them somebody else will. I think they were pretty reasonable...

    PS3 Hacked

Hell yeah, I love low level stuff....I guess that's why 95% of what I do is embedded. The BBC micro is one of the greatest computers of all time - which reminds me, I must fix the power supply on mine because it went up in smoke before christmas. Yanky old capacitors.....
