I would still try going in to see them ,nothing ventured ,nothing gained .Things like this aren't always dealt with by the book ,it's a judgement call made by a manager also .

interesting .... it's a numbers thing however .... 250 people have reported this ,imagine how many have been sold in the UK alone out of a population of 60 million .... it's an electrical component at the end of the day ,parts do fail but it's a shitter if just out of warranty .

If they were to admit liability in that it was a manufacturing fault then yes ,however getting them to admit that would be a whole new board game .
