Yes very suprised there was no RS model, I remember Ford saying there wasnt demand for it, I find that strange though.
Have you driven a 172/182? the reason I ask is that IMO it feels very stable with very little roll, the speed you can carry few corners is very impressive. My brother used to...
thats very good value, I looked at how much by insurance would be with a 210bhp conversion on the 182 and they quoted me £500 extra! Im with elephant as well
The ST is a good car but IMO it is underpowered and also weighs more than the 182. I dont think the ST is as good value for money as the 182 but that is mainly because of the difference in performance.
I see where the ST makes sense as its more refined, cheaper insurance but in this case it...
Claire, who are you insured with?
Just asking becuase I noticed you are 19 and you said a 90bhp increase on the ST would only cost £500 more. Just wondering who you was with as it sounded good value.
thanks
The thing is as with the S3 thread earlier you have to remember that the R32 when new was twice nearly twice as much as the 172/182. Bearing that in mind its a massive acheivement that the Renaultsport Clios can get anywhere near the R32, never mind giving it a run for its money.
You look at...
Forgot to say though, the interior is fantasic in the S3.
I remember a quote from top gear when comparing the S3 and Focus RS, it went something along these lines
'On the inside Audi hired a master craftsmen to do the interior where Ford got a cowboy' So true
One day when I have a few...
R32 are very nice cars, whether it be MK4 or Mk5. There shouldnt be alot in it in terms of performance as power to weight ratio are very similar. Obvioulsy the R32 will muller the 172/182 90/100+
In terms of performance below 90/100mph (assuming both cars are std) there is nothing in it what so ever.
the S3 is a superior car though but it should be, brand new it cost nearly twice as much as the 172/182
I really wanted an S3 before I bought my 182, but i simply wasnt prepared to pay...
thats true about the 138 version, i read loads of reviews from when that 1st came out and it was highly rated. It is the more recent reviews what slate it.
Im suprised your GTI 180 is faster than your mates cup though, I thought there would be nothing in it, in fact most mags have the 172/182...
Yeah dont tell your insurance company as its not technically improving performance, it will improve performance but only to the level the car should be at when it leaves the factory
LOL
I totally agree, I would keep the GTI 180.
Despite the media stating the 172/182 is a far better motor, i doubt on the road there is a great deal between them in terms of fun and performance.
I think the decision between 172 or GTI 180 by yourself as already been made in the fact...
