    Oops!

Hehehe gotta love em. My GF said the other day when we were waiting for a bus home from a night out that 'she didn't think this one was the kind of bus that stopped...' Quality. Had me giggling for a while, anyway.

    197 fuel consumption...

I got 28 average out of a brand new, tight-engined one. The dealership tells me that you should expect well over 30 when the engine beds in... I'm not so sure.

Deal or No Deal 197 F1!

It's really the cost to change you should look at, and I reckon you could squeeze it down a bit. It doesn't matter if they bump the price of the 197 up to £1,000,000, as long as they give you £995,000 for your trade in lol.

Deal or No Deal 197 F1!

Aye, true enough. But as a tool to gauge how likely it is you'll get a good 'un, surveys are a useful guide.

Deal or No Deal 197 F1!

It's simple numbers actually. I'm not saying it's a perfectly accurate survey but there's no ambiguity in that Audi cars have far more warranty claims than Hondas or Toyotas. Not quite as many as Renaults though lol.

Nice i just wrote my car off!!!!! Head on with a passat

Apparently "Jesus is the reason for the season." And he never crashed his car, so learn from that matey.

Deal or No Deal 197 F1!

So? Audi came 20th out of 26 in the What Car reliability survey this year. That's dire for a 'prestige' manufacturer, and their cars are all heavy and expensive to run. Fair enough, Renault came 25th but they don't claim to make incredibly reliable cars. If you want reliability get a CTR/ATR...

    Black 182, DV05, Trentham (Stoke)

You followed me today (I was driving my dad's corolla estate - M666 MJK). You're the first RS Clio I've seen since I got one myself so I felt I had to post about it on here...;)

    Second impressions of the 197

Well if it was icy not even a 172 cup would find grip. Myself, I loved the 197 after a few hours in it, simply cos of its balance. It needs to lose 150kgs at least though to have the same feeling of 'life' that my 182 has.:)

Differences between 197 and the 197 Cup.

Thought I'd ressurect this thread but go back to one of the original points... does anyone know exactly how much lighter the 197 cup is compared to the standard one?

    My garage...

All it says to me is that I'd be too afraid of scratching it to take it out of my garage! It's bad enough with my Clio with the roads as greasy and salt-covered as they are.

    OMFG

Hahaha I just don't understand why people do things like this. I mean how much must this have cost? OK, the bonnet looks like a pancake has been draped over the original, but it probably cost him a fortune. For fook's sake, instead of buying an average car and spending about £20,000 on making it...

Balls, I'm off to Stoke for a week or two, I'll be zooming around Carlisle again in the new year though.

    What will win?

^I agree. Too many gear changes on the diesel. Low first gear too, so there's no way it'd beat you to 60. Tbh above 70 or 80 power is more important that torque, and seeing as the VAG diesel isn't that fastest revving you'll be able to access your 170bhp more easily. Clio for the win, there.

My first bit of proper motoring journalism...

That's a cracking first piece. While I can't claim to write works of art for the paper I write for (sober writing for sober middle-aged folks), I'd only advise that you consider your structure a little more. Don't get me wrong, you followed it through logically and it's nice and easy to follow...

    Grit

Grit (as in little stones) is OK apart from when it chips your paint.... it's the grit (chunks of salt) off the council's wagons that is the problem. Left to its own devices salt will corrode anything it touches on a car, it's just the amount of time it's left that makes the difference...

Is this the new Twingo RS?

I'll second that. I tested one for work a while ago, and with the TCE motor it's a great little car around town. It just rolls too much, that's all. With sorted suspension and more moo, it could be a real hit.

    Blue 197 CARLISLE city centre

Yeah that's it. It was probably the salesman driving it, he uses it day to day. And ColinG, yeah I'd be up for a meet after new year some time, work permitting.

    An improvement?

Yup, it's a fair point. Insurance companies are only too keen to find a reason not to give you any money back - if it's legal for them to do it then it's only good business, and they do say that any mods have to be declared. Not worth taking the risk imo. If you're gonna mod without telling the...

Looks smart in black. Renault's paint finish isn't always the best, but clean, black clios always look the business.

Clio 182 V Seat leon FR

^Hahaha I'd pay to see that! Don't know about LCRs, but my brother's cup-packed 182 keeps up with megane 225s in a straight line and loses them in the twisties. But I agree, it's mostly down to the driver with cars of this performance level.

    Wanting A Clio 182 in 2 to 3 years

^I agree, they don't keep older cars in stock. If you look now, I doubt you'll find many clios older than 54, maybe 04 plate in main dealers. In 3 years even the 55 plate 182s will be 5 years old, and you'll have to be looking at independent dealers. But you'll definitely have changed your mind...
