get the alignment checked buddy....... when i first drove Vicky 172 i s**t myself at the rear end floatyness! turns out one of the rear wheels was well out of tolerance! And a buugered shock
With the relatively low mileage on the car Vicky - and your general driving style, the fronts SHOULD last you a while yet....... so why not just get 2 new Renault ones and replace the rears? Which rear shocks are the most reliable of the bunch? 172 / cup / 182 etc? The shocks on mine are sound...

gonna have a look on some sites now Vicky.......Koni seems overkill to me though. Plus if you get a good price on new OEM ones, they will have 12 months warranty at least! (and saves you having to buy all 4)
bear in mind that you have made a phone call stating that you are considering lowering the car..........and they will have that on record ;)
also, its hard to change them if things are bent - or you are bent. also....... tesco have been known to spot cars they insure at car shows, and ring...
