I just think you're a legend for signing up to the forum to share your M3 with us. Based on the fact you have the same car (colour and model) and you're from Sweden. It nice :)
I couldn't possibly say I took it to Amery Motorsport to have it professionally fitted, it cost a pretty penny but I don't mind when the finish is so good.
Mine got expensive fast, the way you "plan" to have it without the harness bar isn't ideal but it will be good enough. My budget track toy got expensive quick seeing as we've spent the value of the car and then some now. Rather than mucking about with a harness bar just save for a cage...
I take a plastic tub with a Kettle, 4 cups, Coffee, Tea, Sugar, Sweetener, and 3 packs of biscuits. You should always take food with you and eat regularly to keep energy levels high. Bananas are a good way of doing so and keep to your regular routines, brew in the morning etc.
Get to the track...
I destroyed a set of Brembo HC disc's and pads at Donington Park, They literally did 2.5 track days with about 2k road driving (pottering), the disc's are great pads are soft as butter.
Well Dave besides all the arguing about fun, its lovely! I love driving my Dads E92, the noise is special when it get going. You can keep your Mercs with their loud exhausts, its all about being subtle until the time is right not farting and spluttering at 30mph.
Rig-up as f**k but we used washers on the inside of the seat frame to try and level the seats, to me their not perfect but they don't look like they're pointing inwards lol.
I've got RC5+ in the Clio, holy s**t (I'm new to track days, I only have 4 days experience) they are good. Totally f**ked my braking references up for Oulton because I was used to braking a tad earlier on the standard Brembo's.
Tuition, thats another thing to spend your money on. 3 or the 4 track days I've done I've had tuition helped no end, the only reason I didn't have it last time round was because it was my second time around Oulton Park in 6months.
How familiar are you with the limits of the car standard on track? I only ask because when we got our TC we decided to replace the suspension for brand new Renault Dampers and Springs (ended up being Renault Dampers with Eibach Springs) to freshen things up, because you'll s**t yourself before...
