I have Hoya Pro1 Digital ones on most of my lenses, sometimes take them off though. When I started out I was under the impression that it was like a tradition to get one on the lens ASAP and keep it on!

I've took my camera out to my local before now, in fact it helped me "get my name out there" for birthdays etc :) I'd take it in a shoulder-bag with just a spare battery and a flashgun so I could pack it away if needs be. Wouldn't get p*ssed when out with it as a mate once said "you may-as-well...
