Hi Matty, The 205 is in "mm" which is 20.5cms or 8 1/16". The 45 (sidewall) is a percentage of the tyre width which for the above is 92.25mm or 9.25cms or 3 5/8" by 16. For the 17 its the same formula ie 205 remains the same and the 40 (%) (sidewall) is 82mm or 8.2cms or 3 1/4" by 17...

Chris there are wear indicators in the tread so that you can see just how worn your tyres are, they are about 1/4" long and can be seen at the "root" of the tread yeah :cool: they are set at the 1.6mm and are at regular intervals all the way round the tread..............just have a look eh ;)...
