HaHa, this is true! They are, however, getting in a outside guy to do it - they don't fit after market alarm systems so at least they shouldnt be touching the car!
I'm getting a Sigma alarm fitted, any good? Apparently part of the same group that owns Toad?
Yes OK, I'll video myself waving around like a mad man and post it up for you all to see :)
Went down this morning, booked in for Wednesday to have a look at, if nothing obvious then they're going to install a new system - to be fair there isn't much more they could have done and they're doing...
The bas***ds told me I'd get a years tax as well, but only 6months on it! O, and Lumbar support adjust doesnt work either! lol. Apart from that loving the 120 miles I've done today!
Only bother making one if you're already good at that sort of thing. I'm a fairly hands on person and tried making one for my 106, ended up buying one because ot looked aweful!
If its for 6x9's dont bother, alot better to upgrade the front speakers and amp them. 6x9's are a short term solution...
OK, will do. How long does it take to set? I waited in the car for about 3 or 4mins and waved my hands around....nout!
Any common problems as to alarm failure?
Hi
I've just picked up my 172 (finally!) but want to test to make sure the alarm works as i'm abit dubious about it. It has cabin sensors, Toad LED thing by the gear stick and the large siren thingy under the bonnet. How can I go about setting it off on purpose? I've tried sitting in the car...

Whine is most likely alternator whine caused by a ground loop, usually by grounding your amp poorly. Make sure the amp is earthed at a good chassis point, paint fully scratched off so there is a perfect contact.
I just received my mats from ebay, cost £23, loads of them on there at that price. Look well built, soft touch and overall pleased but only time will tell!
Is AG Shampoo OK for the general washes or is it too harsh?
Cool, so the big one every 3months ish?
Thanks guys! Until joining this forum I never knew how much went into a decent clean! Someone should pop over the FiestaST forum and teach them some stuff!
Hi
So you've Cleaned, Polished, Sealed and Waxed. The next week you come to clean your car, what do you do? Is it just shampoo and wax? From what I've read on here you only do the "big" clean every so often, but not really sure what to do in the weekly or two-weekly washes!
Cheers
Tom
I've found my ST and Zetec-S were like this regardless of weather, how long the engine has been running, fuel etc. Some days good, some days bad! Cheap engines I guess, got buy a BMW or Jag for consistency!
There's no performance difference in the two, just 182 is the newer version. I've just bought a 172 over the 182 purely because it was cheaper but also the styling is more subtle which I liked, don't want idiots in Saxo's wanting to race me because I have a twin exhaust!
Why would I have one fitted then? The Renault garage I bought it from said they originally supplied the car so it won't be an import. Previous owner must have installed one I guess!
Cheers though! Prize is on it's way to you Brian! Please allow 28yrs for delivery :)
Hey
Got a pic of that thingy by my gear stick:
So who knows what it is?! There's a prize for the correct answer!
Cheers
Tom
(PS, I don't know what it is either ;))
Take a look at this car on ebay. in the picture taken through the passenger door you can just make out this little plug by the gear nob. Any more ideas...
