Had a cliosport.net sticker. Sorry about the swerve; discovered I can't drive at 70, brake round a bend and try to nod hello all at the same time :-/

What in God's name is that little knobbly drip shaped thing on the underneath of the passenger side door mirror (Mk2)?! An why hasn't the other mirror got one?!

Don't think you will actually lose torque. Engine will rev quicker, so you will accelerate fractionally quicker, but on the downside a lightweight flywheel will mean a jerkier drive i think as a flywheels' momentum helps to smooth power delivery. A lighter flywheel will also mean u will lose...
wooah! Might i suggest you spend a bit longer trying to mend the old one first?! Frying a whole computer just by using incompatible/faulty memory sounds fairly unlikely. Possible that either the BIOS reset to some kind of safe mode, or that you knocked something loose while poking around in...
Just had a quick blat around in my mum's 1.4 puma! (I have a 172). Quite an eye opener! Obviously it has no grunt whatsoever compared to the 172, but other than that it was fantastic! You sit lower, the steering is razor sharp and the gearbox/change is an absolute peach - soo snickety and short...
ahh and onto spare wheels - any foolhardy 172'ers dumped the spare wheel for a can of foam like those 182'ers? I tried to use the standard jack the other day and it's awful - I was pretty sure that on a dark rainy night broken down on a camber with a flat you might just aswell not bother having...
So is there any discernable difference between 172 and 182 power? Anyone confident they could sit (metaphorically) blindfold in either car and be able to tell the difference in delivery? I have a 172 and always rue those 10 missing horses....

"a downside of so little torque at low revs is that this Clio can have trouble accelerating up a steep hill in second gear."
This must be some sort of bad dream... in 2nd, my 172 feels like it's attached to a bungee cord, even up pretty steep roads...

From what they said, I'd guess that with another 20bhp or some serious lightening (cup?), this would be a really great car. Still don't like it's looks though - too soft, too high, too lardy... When it's that big, those 17's look like they belong on a shopping trolley!

Clayed me mum's Puma today. Only trouble was it was so hot that when I sprayed on the detailer it was instantly turning to steam! Eek! Got there in the end though (5 hours). If that's the Quik Detailer, I'd hate to see the slow one! Washed with Zip wax (that stuff is crappy - megs next time)...
yeaah there was a whole review of it in evo a while back. Get back to me if you want a scan of it. It comprises a chip, better air in/exhaust out, optional suspension fettling and cam profile change (I think, im not technical!). They said it was good but not worth the money really, for 2 grand...
I'm from dunstable and there's a few - often see a Silver with Anthy wheels (same as mine) around the sports centre and a red 172 around the town, while there's also a trophy that lives down near Houghton Road....

Talking of which - how on earth is the 197 going to get to 60 in around 7 seconds when there's gonna have to be an extra gear change needed to get there in that time?
Steve
Read tonight in EVO that in a Ferrari they reckoned on a rolling road, having air conditioning on used up about 3bhp. When I have mine on in my Clio 172, it feels like a damn sight more, after a while of driving with it on, turning it of the car feels mental - hugely more spritely! If thats the...
Anyone actually got this? Specifically does it affect warranty, what damage has it done to your insurance premiums and how has it affected your real world MPG? I'd be extremely interested if it's all favourable!

Thats what I thought at first, but nope, I changed down from 3rd to 2nd and then even 1st on the way uphill and it wouldn't go up to 30mph, so I don't think it's a power issue at all!
S.
Only noticed tonight as I was passing a speed camera tonight on a very steep uphill. Popped on my speed limiter (I'm not talking rev limiter here), dialed it to 30mph, but according to my speedo I was actually doing about 22mph. Tried it on the way back (downhill) and sure enough my computer...
Blue (presumably) 172 with large 172 decal on side, along with quite a few other powerful cars in alongside. Any here own or know of it? I was the silver 172 with anthracite wheels that passed through...

Measured a jug of water tonight - 1 litre is equivalent to about 2lbs. Using extremely rough calculations I reckon a full tank must be the equivalent of around 6.5 stones! Quite an eye opener eh? So presumably filling up to full with a premium fuel will only give the kind of performance as...
