Didnt the power of the type R go up slightly recently? Was it as similar as the 172 to 182 or more extreme.. if similar then you think they spend as much time talking about "upgrading" as we do on here? - not a dig or anything, im just interested...
yeh... Reno did say that it ***************COULD****************** be a broken seal or something meaning its warrenty... BUT.... they need to use about £500 of labour time to find this out first... they could get the clutch out and say "oh, actually its wear and tear...... so now you at least...

so they are looking at your gearing problem too?? i have a similar prob.. cant get it into reverse without crunching and hard to change gear.. they checked it and said it needs a replacement clutch - want to charge me £750.. let me...
Well their service seems cracking at the moment.. BUT, i think im talking about the "my friend" guy... Thats Ivan i think.. he is a real "yes sir, no sir, 3 bags full sir" kind of bloke.. havent spoken to any one else of the team... it went there about a year ago when all the power steering...

Got worried then someone saw it out and about on the road! phew!... its in there for engine mount and head gasket.. When was this? was it being worked on at the time?
How you finding their service?
That 172 0-100 has a full tank-o-fuel (+30 odd Kgs), bounces off rev limiter, and seems to change a lane.. could knock fractions or so off that...
But, the megane does also seem to rev limit a little bit BUT does seem to be running on fumes (if the far left dial is the petrol)
That would be great Andy if thats possible... although i would like to see GDi.. Maybe ill come and pick it up for a nose when its done if thats ok... When are you free in your diary? only issue is its still in with reno having head gasket work + "strange engine noise" done at the moment...
i handed my dealer a list of problems.. and was quite cocky too at parts :)

Ive found this too and its a pain in the arse.. it NEVER goes in and comes out better... always something else which is kinda wrong and wasnt there before hand.. at the moment its "in" again and im not thinking "woo, getting it back soon" but "sh!t, wonder what ELSE will not be quite right /...
Where about are you mate? im in The Naaage (Stevenage) and need a good one pretty sharpish for a new clucth (172 cup)... my first port of call are the old mechanics that used to work on my old car between here and letchworth.
k will do... Whats classed as a MAIN dealer though?? this was a "waters renault" which are quite common around here.. ill take it to an independant garage that did quite a bit of work on my old car too...
Do people in general think that from what ive said it is more than likely a new clutch is...

No, the clutch doesnt slip at all.. the ONLY simptons are hard to get into gear and ALWAYS crunches getting into reverse...

I wish i could mate.. I work in the oposite direction to my dealer and work such bloody long hours - the only op i have to do this is this saturday!!.. ill let you know how i get on.. always seems to come out with a new damn problem after being in!... i worry sometimes that i drive it TOO hard...

i have no idea mate.. if it could possibly be that then cheers.. i thought that if gears crunched it would be gear box related(oil, linkages etc)... if the clutch slipped, wouldnt bite/release etc then it would erm be the clutch!.. sorry @ my simple logic.. thx tho - its a possibility

After my 172 cup was in renault last week for some new pads i now have problems with selecting gears.
the problems are: I cant put it into reverse without it crunching.. no matter how slow or fast i do it... i also cant change up gears when driving quite fast without it crunching i.e...
argh predator cannot get my stlye exhaust in! .. thats it, off to prospeed!.. called charlie earlier, great bloke... cant fit me in until sat may7th... day after my bday so wont be in fit state to do 6 hours of driving that day :) - gonna have to be a weekday i guess...
