Oh right. I have used a flat cat6 cable which I tried to make sure was well away from the grippers and it mainly ran in the grove between the grippers and wall. I think it's a bend or kink that's broke it.
I have just come away from Home Plugs, they work fine but for what I want to do I need...
Yes I have repowered the switch and it's the same. It's definitely the cable as said above it connects fine to 1000M when connected directly to my router upstairs using a standard cat5 cable.
The switch is one of the metal ones :)

I am intrigued to know where the cable has damaged as I was pretty careful making sure it was flush and not near the carpet grips etc!!
Ok, so just to try and clear things up a bit and also, just to point out all of my devices i.e router, NAS etc are all Gig capable.
So, my router is upstairs, I have ran a 30 meter cat6 cable all the way downstairs (under carpets etc) to where my TV is setup which is where the NAS and media...
Ok so I have setup a Netgear Gigabit Switch (GS105) downstairs to attach to my NAS and media player.
I am using a 30 meter Cat6 cable and it was fine yesterday when I tested i.e plugged in my router up stairs and just ran the cable loose downstairs and connected it to the switch, both lights...
You can only get tethering if you move to the new tariffs, I had to move from the very first Simplicity iPhone tariff.
I think I pay £10 which is for the iPhone works bundle which is 1GB worth of shared data.
I got a white 16GB iPad 2 last month. Amazing bit of kit and iOS5 makes it even better so that will be something to look forward to :)
16GB was plenty for me.
Ok, well I cant comment on the reliability of the screens from eBay but it looks like that will be your cheapest option if someone is fitting it for you.
How much are the screens going for as it may end up cheaper and easier to claim on house insurance.

Who do you recommend?
Freinds company currently use LCN which is POP3 and now they have multiple offices, it becomes a pain when trying to access emails as the same email account is on more than one PC in various offices.
