its not overly difficult to change a headgasket with the engine in.
Good gains can be got from modifyng the cylinder head, if you know what you are doing.
Not thought about fitting a williams engine instead?
as abov, remove cluch and fly to expose seal. use picks to remove the old one, or drill two small opposite holes in the seal body and screw in some self tappers and pull it out.
It will have been pushed in too far.
even if the engines were the same, or if it would fit the head....the way the engine sits in the bay wouldnt allow it. the williams manifold drops down quite alot...the 182 one doesnt.
any fuel system cleaner is a daft "idea" in the first place tbh...the micro-filters in the injectors themselves can only be properly cleaned in a sonic bath. any additive is more likely to remove debris form elsewhere in the fuel system, which will the get trapped in the injector filters.
not really...will likely be a simple fuelling/ign problem.
Just check both systems for obvious faults, and maybe fone round a few local places offering crypton tuning....you will probably find an 'old boy' who will know his way round a set of webbers. or try a proper tuning place.
youve confused the hell out of me lol. at first it sounded like you had bolt on rigid filters....in which case it wont matter if the body is touching the bonnet....then you said they were squasehed...implying socks!!
so it is a rigid filter....i would defo say there is a problem elsewhere.
so has it got filters or not??
by what your describing, the filters are squashed between the trumpets and the bonnet?
You may have to cut the bonnet to give clearance if this is the case.
You really need the software etc to access the ecu and make sure all the settings are correct.
e.g. the cps could be reading the wrong trigger pattern.
Was it taken from a running 172? if so the settings should be ok.
check the basics i gues...until u can access the ecu.
