    I don't have a 172 lol. The Renaultsport engine is a hell of a lot more tuneful than any diesel.

    ^ Yep, agree with you Roy. Won't ever 'sell out' and get a diesel. SOunds is soooo important from an engine, anyone who says it isn't is lying. Diesels sound like tractors the end. Only Diesels I like are HGV and the racing trucks.

    Only fair to compare a turbo petrol 200bhp car and 200bhp turbo diesel car. Seeing as no-one makes a car with both engine choices there is no way you can compare.

    Turbo petrol cars do, at least they do in the same way as turbo diesel turbos do. Diesels only come with turbos because they are so rubbish without.

    Oh I agree, and tbh I'd sniff out a bargain car where someone else has done all the hard work like Jesus did. Would never pay thousands for the parts and fitting alone though.

    I'd never take an NA engine to the ITB stage, too much cost outlay for not enough gain for me. I'd just buy something faster and better to begin with.
