the garage have quoted £250 and the seller has offered me £75 towards it as he reckons hes already giving me the car cheap so I accepted.

Im worried now cos the garage quoted me £150 so i got on the phone to the seller and he said ill give you half towards it etc so i said yes and im picking up today

Update: Just spoke to the garage the guy reckoned the cambelt had been done with and it hasnt been done. The guy has offered to meet me halfway with the cost of the cambelt repair which is not bad I guess.

Thanks Da - just looking at a 172 and it didnt say in the ad whether it had been done but the seller just confirmed it was done @ 60k

Off to look at this now, wondering what people think?? Not used to buying cars so just wanted to check Id covered everything. Just asked the seller if its had its belts done and he confirmed they were done with the service at 60k miles

Cheers guys, Ill try a few mentioned above. Also whilst Im on it, very off topic but with a 172 when would you expect belts to have been changed I thought it was when the car is either 5 years old or 70k mileage??
