They will always be a special car, and as a Renault nut I have a fond affection for them.
Greatly flawed though and not fast, not compared to proper supercars in which the tag seems to get applied to it.
I'd have a Renault 5 Turbo (preferably with the maxi kit) over a vee, mid engined...
Behave.
Lancia is more iconic than the cossie and the vee put together.
You don't win 6 Rally championships (5 in a row in that 6!) without it being a truly special car.
On the road they look the sex. Get a Giallo Yellow EVO 2, has the nicest interior colour/material combination. Polish...
Still like mk1s though they have that 'oneness' that old Renaults had. I can see it shine through in the 182 as well.
Its an odd thing. Its endeared me to Renaults all my life tbh, even when I get another marque I always come back for more.
R27 is markably different to the 'full fat' 197 in terms of how it drives, steers and to a large extent goes, feel better in every area and considering that is an update after a year says alot really. Still like the 197 as a car though.
Food for thought.
JDM spec Imprezas lost the Boxer warble around 2003 when they started to put the equal length tubular manifold on. Uk spec Imprezas never had this ever the New age ones.
Most likely a JDM spec engine running in it.
